Galaxy Quest. Did...

I remember seeing Shatner talking about the impressions of himself and saying (in dead-pan good humor) "I, ...just, ...don'tseeit!"

Did Shatner or Nimoy ever make any comments on Galaxy Quest?
I don't know about Shatner and Nimoy, but Takei said it was a hoot and seemed to enjoy it a lot.

Taking into account his "love" for Shatner, that reaction from him would almost be a "given" I'd think. *grin* But it was interesting that he commented on the "alien" specifically being on money! (Somehow, I'd bet he still would have liked it, if they had done more on/at/of "him.")

^ I seem to remember Patrick Stewart also commented on the film.

I'd like to see that! ("Take that all you who said that 'Kirk would kick Picard's ass!' At least I kept my shirt on and could walk without a tuck & roll!" *grin*)

A quote from Shatner: "I thought it was very funny, and I thought the audience that they portrayed was totally real, but the actors that they were pretending to be were totally unrecognizable. Certainly I don't know what Tim Allen was doing. He seemed to be the head of a group of actors and for the life of me I was trying to understand who he was imitating. The only one I recognized was the girl playing Nichelle Nichols."

If nothing else, he does have a sense of humor! (was there a single straight answer in that whole thing? If so, I certainly missed it. *grin*)

Q: Will there be a director's cut for Star Trek V, like what's happening with the first film?

WS: No, I don't think any of the other movies will be touched. But I'm going from house to house trying to get people to buy the DVD of Star Trek V and giving out individual explanations so please call.

That interview is hilarious. I'd forgotten how much I love Shatner.

^ I seem to remember Patrick Stewart also commented on the film.

On Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me he said that Michael Dorn called him after seeing Galaxy Quest to say that Alan Rickman's, "I was an actor, once, dammit! Now look at me!" rant at the beginning was almost word-for-word what Stewart was saying between takes in "Skin of Evil" when he was negotiating with a black puddle of goop.

^ Nope

Patrick Stewart:
I had originally not wanted to see [Galaxy Quest] because I heard that it was making fun of Star Trek and then Jonathan Frakes rang me up and said ‘You must not miss this movie! See it on a Saturday night in a full theatre.’ And I did and of course I found it was brilliant. Brilliant.

No one laughed louder or longer in the cinema than I did, but the idea that the ship was saved and all of our heroes in that movie were saved simply by the fact that there were fans who did understand the scientific principles on which the ship worked was absolutely wonderful. And it was both funny and also touching in that it paid tribute to the dedication of these fans.

Wadda ya mean, "nope"? What you quote isn't what he says in the interview that David cgc cites on Wait Wait Don't tell me, which I am listening to NOW. Click on the Not My Job link (RealMedia) on this page to hear it and go to 5:00 into that segment. David cgc has it right.

Er, it's entirely possible that both excepts are true. One does not negate the other.

I love it when actors say different things at different times and the fans' heads start to explode with the pressure.

But neither of these comments contradicts one another. The first part, about Frakes telling him to see it, is the same in both. Then, in one he talks about the portrayal of fans in the film, and in the other he relates the bit about the tar pit the Dorn reminded him of.

I'm sure Shatner mentioned it when Tim Allen was on Raw Nerve (I think thats the name of his show?) but I can't remember what was said.

Stewarts reaction seems to fall in line a bit with his Red Dwarf story from years back onBBC2.
