Wow I've never seen that. Its far superior to stuff we were seeing in the 90s. Ifor one love non-fiction books and they DID sell well at one time. I hope that updates to the chronology and more will eventually be re-published.

"Star Charts" came out in 2002 and supposedly had lacklustre sales, despite a sensible price point and mainly positive reviews.

You can see the problem: lots of people who might have bought the book just waited for other fans to scan the pages and post them up onto the Internet. Neither Geoffrey Mandel or Pocket make any money from that practice.

Why should Pocket even try to update the "ST Chronology"? The new movie may or may not agree with all the dates, for a start. As soon as such a book is released, it's going to become outdated, and fans would eagerly transcribed all the factoids into places like Memory Alpha (canon stuff) and Memory Beta (tie-in stuff). So again, the most up-to-date version will always be web-based.

There's a good, if brief, episode/movie/novels timeline in "Voyages of Imagination", the novels companion - but it, too, became out of date the very next month. A fan then uploaded the timeline material to the web, and updates it monthly, but then that's unfair to the people who put in all the hard work on the book.

Very soon, a new book, "Star Trek 101", will be out with brief material on everything canonical ST. But ST's going to have to become extremely popular for the fanbase to support all-new editions of the hefty, expensive-to-produce "ST Encyclopedia" or "ST Chronology".

I would really like an updated 'ST Encyclopedia" that covers all Trek now. It is certainly easier than when the first couple of versions came out in the '90s, when there were still new episodes being filmed. However, it's been three years since the last ST TV episode, and there is no clear plan to continue.

Yeah. Then we have more new trek productions, like the upcoming movie...

What is not show... or it's relatively say it, it's the distance between the major home world. Like distance from earth to Qo'noS or from romulus to cardassia prime... etc. Have anyone an idea about this distances?
