Galaxy Class Starship vs. the Vaadwuur

Galaxy Class starship vs. a group of Vaadwuur fighters. who would win ?

They were the ancient race that Voyager woke up in "Dragon's Teeth".

Since we never really saw Voyager fight the Vaadwaur ships, it's hard to gauge just how powerful they were.

We did see the ship fight their fighters, and Janeway had a relatively easy time with them ...
they were an older race, but all things considering their weapons still were able to inflict numerous damage.

That's true, but Voyager was both damaged and a sitting duck parked on their planet.

A fully-functional Galaxy class ship would probably hold its own better than Voyager, but sheer numbers would eventually overwhelm it.

The Galaxy-Class would be torn to shreds by Vaadwaar ("Dragon's Tooth") fighters, simply as a matter of being pummeled by superior numbers & the advantage of surprise.

The Galaxy-Class's nacelles & bridge would be the first few targets. The nacelles would be first to go in a blaze of warp plasma, unless the ship's been upgraded to fire multiple beams from the same phaser strips & included the Voyager's "alt future" armor plating generators over the bussards, impulse exaust, & the warp grills. Once it got a good fix on the dead center of the swarm, torpedoes would be all the Galaxy-Class would need to decimate the Vaadwaar.

BUT, the Galaxy-Class...they'd inflict impressive damage on pursuing ships once the bridge crew got its act together & separated the ship, someone headed to the battle bridge & whooped some butt with whatever's hiding under the ass of the saucer section, along the front lip of the stardrive section's docking platform.

The OP specified neither numbers (other than "a group") nor an element of surprise. Given surprise and numbers, even space shuttles could tear a GCS to shreds. Wargaming unknown numbers in an unknown situation won't accomplish anything.

I think a Galaxy Class Starship would make the Vaadwaur go running home to crawl under a bed and cry. Besides the simple fact of the Vaadwaur being 900 years behind the times in terms of weapons technology, a Galaxy Class has a lot of phaser banks, it would be essentially a repeat of the battle in "Conundrum" when a load of fighters came at the Enterprise-D and it took a phaser blast each to destroy them. Also, if they needed to divide their ifre, seperate the saucer between the 2 sections and their good phasers could easily setup a kill-zone that would decimate a dozen Vaadwuar fighters in seconds.

Indeed "Conundrum" is your best reference here. It is well worth remembering everyone's conclusion in that episode on seeing the Ent-D's armaments was that she was a Battleship.

That said of course it seems likely you could cram that much weaponry on a smaller ship if you so desired, so she is a very well-appointed Battleship.
