Galaxy Class Starship Development Project - Saucer Separation Field Test

Tiberius Jim

Vice Admiral
Admiral
After figuring out how to animate the Galaxy class separating, I wanted to present it in some sort of in-universe context. So I changed up the registry from Alex Klemm's awesome Enterprise-D model and created this quick animation in the form of some internal Utopia Plantia video logs taken during the development and testing process. Best viewed in full 1440p. Enjoy!

Wow. Five star presentation. I remember booting up my CD ROM of the TNG Technical Manual 29 years ago and this LCARS stuff gave me the same goosebumps that this does.

Lovely.

Thanks! I definitely had that old Simon & Schuster feel in mind when I created them, and used TrekCore's library of TNG LCARS sounds, which may very well have been pulled from their games.

I'm always a sucker for seeing "NX" on ships where we don't normally see the "NX." The in-universe presentation was great, too. But, most importantly, I've got to start mentally associating your TrekBBS name with your YouTube name. This is the second time I saw one of your videos on YT before seeing it here.

I'm a big fan of NX-designated ships too, and if I ever build a model of the Excelsior it'll definitely be the TSFS version.
Funny you should mention the user name, I've been meaning to put in for a name change. I've gone by Flux Capacitor here for a while but I don't use it anywhere else. I was CaptProton before, but I use the Tiberius Jim moniker everywhere now so I may have to make a switch for consistency's sake.
