Gabe Koerner's Enterprise game version

Relayer

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I've done a low poly version of Gabe's Enterprise that I'd like to release for the game Starfleet Command. Gabe's got this "super spam filter" that requires CIA approval to contact him and I haven't been able to send an email for release permission. ;)

I know that Gabe comes around here. So, Gabe, if you see this do you have any objections to my releasing it? It'd be freely available for anyone and only for non commercial use. It's also highly likely that others would want to port it to other games.
I don't know whether you give or require permissions or not. If you have any objections please let me know.

Thanks,
Rod

Wow! id love to play that in Starfleet command :)

Good Work cant wait for a ortho or more pics of it :)

GabrielKoerner will accept a PM. Why don't you send him one, Relayer?

I agree, nice work. :)

Relayer, nice work.. can you put up some simple orthos of it?
Uh.. no reason... :)

I can ask him next time I see him online, at least if I remember. ;)

ETA: I'll do one better on that and email him.

Thanks, everyone.

I tried to look up an old post by Gabe so I could PM him, but have had no luck. Someone want to give me a tutorial on how this place works? I'd rather ask him personally if I could.

Manticore, if you should see him then, yes, please let him know about this for me.

How to P.M. someone...

1) Hit "My Home" at the top of the webpage.

2) Look for "Messagebox" at the top left of your personal homepage. Hit "Send a PM."

3) Enter the name of the user you want to message(unfortunately, there's no "search" feature in there... oh well!) You can use the "search messages" function of the board to find any messages by certain posters, too... but as far as I know, there's no accessible centralized "user database," is there?

Now, how to reach Gabe...

Just go here, go to his personal site, and email him from there!

Looks awesome, you've really captured it.

The shader/effect/texture/particles/whatever in the bussards seems a bit off, but that is easily fixed or could just be a matter of personal taste. Would it be possible to put some actual geometry inside for the rotating guts and put the light coming from behind it as seen in his animations? I'm not sure about the engine you're putting this into and what kind of limits it has on lighting, particle and shader effects though. The color in general is far more yellow/warmer than it seems to me.

If all I have to complain about it is the color of the nacelle caps, I'd say you've got a win here.

The game engine renders the buzzards quite a bit more red. It's an old game engine and unfortunately doesn't support transparency or animation. (Only color and illumination maps) I went with basically TOS buzzards because of that. It's too bad because Gabe's buzzards are a major part of his model's character. The top engine glows suffer because of this too. Not as bad though. I was able to pull off a bit of photoshop magic and got a pretty good illusion of depth and refraction there.

Thanks for all of the positive comments.

Here's a top down angle. I'll do an ortho set as soon as I get the chance.

Relayer, check in your My Home to make sure you have PMs enabled.

Gabe may also have PMs disabled.

Great model, BTW.

^I like it! I know that it is heresy to say this, especially to diehard TOS fans but if I were to have seen in "In A Mirror Darkly", I would have been more convinced that this vessel should be the heir to the NX-01!

Actually, in IAMD, the ship was supposed to be from the "real" Trek universe, right?

BUT...

How 'bout this... when they give us the remastered "Mirror Mirror," what if the mirror-Enterprise looked like this. I could live with that!

Well, you can see my solution... I love what Gabe's done with the design. Since my model's for SFC, which is based off of Starfleet Battles, I've made it an alternate battleship design. I plan on (hopefully ) releasing a set of blank (without registries) textures for those who want to place it elsewhere in their own Trek universe.
