FX has ordered a pilot based on Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra's hit post apocalyptic comic book series Y: The Last Man. For those unfamiliar with it, the series followed Yorik Brown, an amature escape artist who, along with his monkey Ampersand, are the only survivors of a plague that has wiped out every other living thing on Earth with a Y chromosome. During the series 60 issue run it was nominated for a Hugo Award and won an Eisner.
The TV series' pilot will be written by former American God's co-showrunner Micheal Green, and he will serve as showrunner alongside Luke Cage's Aida Mashaka Craol. The pilot will be directed Melina Matsoukas, who will also be an Executive Producer.
Adaptations of the series have been attempted before, including a film adaptation in 2007 with DJ Caruso set to direct and then another one in 2012.
FX first got the rights in 2015 and Micheal Green was already set to run it at that point, but he was already set to also work on American Gods at that point.
