Futures End

Captain

I just wanted to share my delight and appreciation of this episode.

IMHO it is perhaps Treks best time travel story (movies aside)

In the first half hour alone we got such great lines as:

"We could have worn our starfleet uniforms and no one would have noticed"

"There from the future too! Yea they came in on a STARship"

and one of my personal favorites: "Quasi Cardassian Totalitarian"

The nut job Braxton is a riot, and I thought the story over all was very interesting. (A leads to B leads to C)

I get that nostalgic feeling every time I watch this episode and it was just plain fun, partly because of a good plot, action, and the fact I loved the 90's and this sends me back.

What were your thoughts on this episode?

Re: Journeys End

Freedom fighter tries to shoot the EMH: God in Heaven help us..."
EMH: "Divine intervention is unlikely."

Re: Journeys End

I very like Futues End because of sarah Silverman, Ed Begley and most of all because of the interaction between Janeway and Chakotay. I think they are very close in this episode. I also like the scenes between Torres and Chakotay in the shuttle.

Re: Journeys End

My favorite part is when Kes and Neelix are monitoring the television stations.

KES: We've set up a computer algorithm to search for key words and phrases. Anything that might indicate Voyager.
KIM: Anything so far?
NEELIX: Not yet, but we have come across some very intriguing televised broadcasts. Take a look at this. It's a form of entertainment called a 'soap opera'. The exploration of human relationships is fascinating.
KIM: I can't imagine just watching the story and not being a part of it.
KES: That's because you've been spoiled by the holodeck. There's something to be said for non-interactive stories like this, being swept away in the narrative.
NEELIX: Oh, I can't wait to see if Blaine's twin brother is the father of Jessica's baby.
KIM: Good work. Keep me informed, and don't get too swept away.
NEELIX: Er, aye sir.
SHARON [on monitor]; Nobody'll know the difference.
JACK [on monitor]: I'll know, Sharon. How can I face him knowing that our son is his son?
SHARON [on monitor]: All you need to know Jack is that I love you!

:guffaw:

Re: Journeys End

This was one of the few times in all of Trek that I can recall almost all the major characters having a story going that all fit into the main theme.

I usually find Sarah Silverman to be annoying, but in this particular episode, I found her to be kinda cute. ;)
Probably because she was being nice and not a bitch.

Re: Journeys End

One of my favorites eps of all Trek. Should've been included in the Time Travel Fan Collective DVD. Maybe they'll make a Time Travel Part II.

I own the Time Travel Box set and your right, it should have been included. By far one of the best time travel stories in all of Trek (IMHO)

One of my all time favorite lines and one of my first quotes I posted.

I have ALWAYS loved Future's End.

My second favorite line is: "It's a bald guy and some black man!!!" :guffaw:(the militants refering to the Doc. and Tuvok)

I think Timeless is the best time travel episode but this was a nice detour episode for the cast. It seemed very lighthearted and fun, like the rest of Voyager, so I give it a thumbs up in my book.

I loved this ep too and we have watched it in my house many times in place of watching a movie. What's the point of watching some lame movie when you can watch one of VOY's double eps, all of which are terrific. "Future's End" is endearing and intrigueing all at the same time. One of VOY's best.

lol I also noticed after the last viewing when they first beam down to the beach Janeways communicator beeps and 2 surfer type dudes walking by both look down at their cell phones as they walk past the shot.

Its the little things that I love about this episode.

Also when Silverman sends the greeting to Voyager I believe thats the real life greeting that was created in the event we ever came into direct contact with aliens.
