"Future's End" was so much fun!

I've reached "Future's End" in my rewatch, and very much enjoyed it. I think it's the most fun episode so far.

Sarah Silverman's character wound me up a bit (it's 1996 yet she's talking like an escapee from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey), and her scenes with Tom were painful, but other than that it was a great two-parter.

I loved Janeway's little ego trip when she had Starling trapped in sickbay very amusing. Her "I've won!" was priceless - then he got away!:guffaw:

The Doctor's muted glee at finally being outside sickbay was great.

Did anyone else notice that the Braxon that picked up Voyager at the end was wearing a slightly different uniform to the one at the start?

That it's spelled "Chronowerx" on the building, but "Chronowerks" in the hangar?

And what happend to the Braxton on Earth? Even if the future changed, he should still be there, like Old Janeway in "Endgame", Daniels in Enterprise and Old Spock in STXI remained even after the timeline was altered.

Again, very enjoyable episodes.

I also watched this recently, I was like Damn, 1996, i remember watching it as a kid when it was a new episode, now its like what are they wearing!

but I agree it was a good episode, sarah silverman did quite a good job i thought, I watched her on tv the other night doing a stand up show, she looks like she hasn't aged!

Do you want to know? :vulcan:

If not, stop, now. :klingon:

I told you, stop now.

Braxton in season 5's "Relativity" says he was rescued from 20th cent Earth and that "being" was reintergrated with his other "being".

Don't even THINK of asking me "how". :rommie:

The Temporal Prime Directive prevents me from explaining it. :guffaw:

I love the ep too, especially watching Chakotay flirt with Janeway on the boardwalk.

Kath: "That could be my Greatgreatgreat great x ? grandmother."
Chak: "She's got your legs."

Braxton at the end said that he had the technology to scan alternate timelines. That Braxton was from an Alternate/new Future because the first Braxton who doesn't believe in alternate futures and alternate timelines are anathema to "A leads to B leads to C leads to A".

That's a completely different technology and philosophy.

They were not the same men, and not in the same ship and not from the same earth and not from the same timeline.

It's pretty obvious that the doctors mobile emitter advanced science by a few centuries which it wasn't supposed to.

I think that the stray Janeways and the Sevens were also integrated at the end of Relativity and if Admiral janeway had stayed around for any much longer she and the captain woud have been integrated into a composite too.

I'd totally forgotten about the merging of duplicates in "Relativity"! I'd imagine it's the same as what happened in "Tuvix", only done intentionally - Voyager may even have "invented" that very technique that's used centuries later:lol:.

I thought this episode was pretty dreary, compared to what it could have been. Not one of my favorites.

I appreciate that Voyager was trying to do the whole Star Trek IV thing, but overall it just wasn't nearly as enjoyable as TVH or Time's Arrow to me.

I like "Futures End". One of the best Voyager episodes..

Henry Starling is an excellent villain and the episode is full of both exciting and funny moments.

Highly enjoyable. I'll give it 5 points out of 5.

By the way, Henry Starling seems to be appreciated in some places in the world too! ;)

Watching Sarah Silverman and her silly pseudo-90s lingo was worth the price of admission for me :)

Also, crazy!Braxton was funny, as was Neelix and Kes getting into soap operas.

I know, I know, it was totally Star Trek IV, but I still like it. Also, that website is awesome.

For me, watching Sarah Silverman was agonizing. IMHO, she's not over-endowed with comedic or acting talent.

I really didn't like this episode. Would rather have had them made Starling a once-struggling TV producer who mines Braxton for story ideas, making a few hit sci fi series. By 1996, he's all tapped out, so he dragoons Janeway and company into attending a pitch meeting with him. Would be nice to see some sleazy Hollywood TV types through the VOY crew's eyes.

It could have been a real meta-commentary on the franchise and TV.
