Future Guy IS a Romulan! + New respect for BB

I'm from Canada but I came to Las Vegas to take part in the Las Vegas Con as well as visit my mom. I was looking forward to asking Brannon Braga about critism that he nearly killed Star Trek. Someone beat me to it so instead I asked him whom he believed Future Guy was. Apparently he and Berman discussed it and it would most likely have turned out to be a Romulan, leading up to the War which would have been EPIC.

I have a new respect for Braga as he too dislikes the theme song, realizes that the final episode was a mistake and has a great new show coming out soon called Flash Forward. Braga was so gracious with the fans, mingling in the vendors room. He is a pretty decent man.

On a more serious note... Why do you think he helped Enterprise against the Xindi? A destroyed Earth would be great for Romulus. My theory is that during the Romulan war, maybe the Andorians tried to use the information they got from the Xindi weapon to destroy Romulus, but the pinkskins stopped them.

In the final analysis, it's not really the Xindi though is it? They were just pawns of the Sphere Builders, who wanted their expanse... that trans-dimensional realm to expand, covering the whole Alpha and Beta quadrants in time. Earth, Vulcan, Qo'noS, Romulus. They would all have been swallowed up well before Daniels' era. It stands to reason Future Guy would consider self preservation first, so he can continue to exist and then carry out whatever his own plans for the 22nd Century were.

Yes, future guy said as much when Archer questioned his motives for helping him find the Xindi.
 
Yes, but it appears he said he's discussed it with Berman and they decided that's probably where they would have went had they decided during the series run. They've come up with this after the fact, he didn't hide it.

Yes, it would have been nice if these things weren't only hindsight, but at least the guy has the guts to admit when he realizes he did something "wrong". That's what makes him a stand-up guy.

well for one thing he might want the federation to exist but in a different form.
one that he was manipulating.

but the easiest thing with the xindi was that everyone was at risk from the sphere builders and the expanding expanse and not just earth.

it eventually would have been a threat to the romulans.

It's been so long since I first started posting here. I think there may be limit where you have to reach a certain number of posts, before you can upload an avatar. Or is that before you can start a voting poll, in a thread? Or do personal messaging? Anybody?

Captain Banmen, look at the toolbar above. Do you see 'User CB' on the top left hand side? Try clicking on that, then on the next page - under 'Settings & Options', hit 'Edit Avatar'. That's where I upload images from my PC. They can't be any larger than 140x140 pixels in size. Like me, you'll probably get a polite message from a Moderator afterwards, the first few times you go for an avatar that's too big.

Welcome, Captain Banmen! Our handy-dandy FAQ explains when you can wear an avatar. You've been here the requisite two weeks, but you're still a mite shy of those 50 posts. ;) Just keep contributing to threads. Offer your thoughts on a topic, say hello in the Red Shirt Lounge, enter a caption contest... You'll reach 50 soon.

As for actually creating an avatar, if you have a photoshopping program, or even something as simple as Windows Paint, you can do it yourself. Just pick out a picture, crop/resize it to 140x140 pixels and 70kb max, and it will be ready when you reach 50 posts. Or you can wear an avatar that someone else makes. There are plenty of folks here who are whizzes at avatar creation. Check in any avatar contest and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for asking Brannon Braga about Future Guy. We've all been speculating for so long about that. :techman:

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to post more often. I've been visiting for years just been too busy with other things to post. :) I think the Vegas Con energized me. It was great!
 
Just to add something about Braga at the Vegas Con, he had stated himself that he wished that he wished that they had started Enterprise out with a season like season 4.
 
Future Person of Interest should've been revealed to be a Remulan, and they left it vague as to what a Remulan is, also, again...Klingons should've been called Klingauts throughout the show.

At the end of the series Dr. Phlox could go back home to visit CARDASSIA PRIME. :eek:

Future Guy being Dukat would've kicked arse, btw. STRAIGHT FROM THE FIRE CAVES!
