Future’s End has sort of a Back to The Future 2 vibe. Old bearded Braxton talking to Janeway about time travel reminds me of Doc Brown’s lecture to Marty on the chalk board in the alternate 1985, and Doc showed Marty the newspaper clip of his alternate timeline self ending up in a mental institution, which is what happened to Braxton too. In BTTF-2 Biff Tannen gets hold of a sports almanac in 1955 from his future self and becomes very wealthy and powerful. In Future’s End Henry Starling get’s hold of Braxton’s 29th century time ship in the 1960s and becomes very wealthy and powerful. In BTTF-2s alternate 1985 Nixon’s still president. In Starling’s office there’s a picture of him with Nixon, though it’s unknown if Nixon’s presidency lasted longer in the timeline influenced by Starling and his acquired technology.

I think the pic of Starling and Nixon was meant to convey how long Starling has been a mover and shaker, i.e. since the late 60's to early 70's. Starling's tech might have been able to cover up Nixon's faux paux (sp?), but it couldn't have changed the constitution and allowed him to serve beyond the maximum 8 years.

Nixon would have done that himself. The two term limit has only been around since the 1950s (I think?) and Nixon was still serving his enlongated term come 1985 in Watchmen.
Starling tech might have had as much effect on Viet Nam as Doctor Manhatten?
Hells the Airforce could have had Star Wars up and running before George Lucas did.
On the 6 o'clock NEWS on Television, they actually had the stones to report that members of the Bush Administration where putting feelers out to extend his stay in office till after the war on terror had been concluded... Now that's stones. Maybe if the job wasn't unbareable that might have eventuated into something but his years in the White House were like masturbating with a Cheese Grater: Slightly amusing but mostly painful.
It is like Back to the future two with like how Emmet took Jennifer and Marty away to change Future history, but really it's just a stock of conincidences that hardly ammount to anything sinister.
