Futurama - Into the Wild Green Yonder

I got to say, this featured something I've always wanted from Futurama: a Dune joke.
At first I wasn't going to bother with this film, what with all the negative responses. this sole post however has changed my mind *sigh* Here's hoping its one hell of a joke

so is this the end for futurama? or shall fry ride the mighty moon worm again? I waited until the end of the film for something that should have been at the start of the second film, Fry and Leela together

It's not really a significant joke, or particularly hi-larious. It'll make you chuckle at most, and it's within the first 5-10 minutes of the movie.

Meanwhile, anyone who hates Celine Dion will want to check this movie out. They make no shortage of bashing her.

Don't let "all the negative responses" here put you off it. Watch it for free if you want. Even if you hate it, you'll only lose 90 minutes of your life.

They just need to stop. End the story and put these characters out of our misery. All of their movies have sucked imo. They're creative I guess, but it just lacks that unrelenting cleverness that the show had. They jumped the shark when Amy did something rather unsavory, and kind of out of character, in the last movie. After that I just couldn't care less.

By "last movie", do you mean the previous movie? The only unusual thing she did in Bender's Game was kiss Leela. Certainly a step up from rebounding with Zapp Brannigan in the second movie. Besides, it wasn't really even Amy. Only Fry and Leela were truly themselves. Everyone else was a character in Bender's mind. Or do you think that Hermes is really a pacifist hermaphrodite in the regular world, too?

If "the last movie" means the final movie, then I'm drawing a blank. She didn't do anything "unsavory" that Leela wasn't even more guilty of. Heck, Lauren Tom beating the crap out of David X. Cohen in the making of documentary was worse than anything Amy ever did.

ItWGY has received ratings on par with the previous three movies. Better, in fact, than the previous two. The movies aren't perfect, but they're enjoyable. I only hope that if Futurama comes back, we get no more of this four part episodes released as movies business. Choose one format or the other-- as a regular episodic season, or as a feature length, big budget movie with lots more time to write and animate it.

Amy fucking Zap. I realize it's supposed to be a farce and all. But I had the same reaction to it that I had to Quaqmire trying to rape Marge Simpson. I didn't like either. Both felt out of place and kind of icky.

Wow, that was shockingly disappointing. I loved #1, liked #2, really liked #3. I thought #4 would be the best one. It was supposed to be a B5-esque "war between two ancient races" epic. Instead it was the Feministas versus Mr Wong's Mini Golf Scheme? Oh my god. No Nibblonians? The "dark one" was a stupid little worm? No action? No war? I'm so disappointed. And a real non-ending too. Oh well. I still hope they make more.

I think that the main problem is just the long break in production between these shows dying and their resurrection, it can just never be quite the same. It's more like some kind of unholy reanimated zombie of a loved one. You know that everything they were is gone, but you can't bring yourself to shotgun them at point blank range in the head.
I just think it works better as 22 minute episodes, rather than 2 hour movies.

I think 2 hour (well, 90 minute) movies would be fine if they were actually movies and not designed to be broken into 22 minute long segments. It really hurts them as movies (and as episodes, I'd imagine) and I think it's the major factor in making them be passable instead of good.

Well I watched this the other day and I enjoyed it. I thought it was easily the best of the Futurama movies, it felt the most like the TV show and the "episodes" really didn't hurt the overall story as much as it did in the other three films (for some perspective I thought the first movie was okay, the second wasn't very good and the third was a little better then the first).

I really loved the ending. I thought it was just as good as The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings. If the show does get picked up like Billy West was saying then it will be interesting to see
if they go with a Lost in Space direction or if the wormhole will just return them to Earth. Personally I hope that they would do Lost for Space for a few episodes then find a way back to Earth, they have tons of good established characters that I would want to see again.

I guess Cubert and Dwight are now the owners of Planet Express, all of the adults they know are gone now and they would inherit their parent's stock in the company.

Another huge complaint. Eighty episodes and four movies, and they never showed Morbo's People invade the Earth. They spent all that time showing him plotting and threatening and gathering information oh so subtly... all for naught! I kept hoping that the "Dark Ones" were going to be Morbo's people or something. Also it sucks we didn't get a final Nibblonians story, dammit. Especially since Nibbler returned in Movie 3 with no explanation.

I actually think it would be funnier if it turned out Morbo's people were really peaceful and the reason he's on Earth is because he was banished for being too violent.

I've always figured Morbo's people have no intention of invading Earth, and Morbo's just a harmless blowhard trying to stir up ratings for his tv shows.

So he's Bill O'Reilly in disguise?

Either way I think he's right. We should've gotten an episode with Morbo's people. Maybe they just always filled that niche with those aliens that really like McNeil.

I really enjoyed this one a lot, almost as much as the first one. I was disappointed with the second movie while the third was merely enjoyable, but this was a solid conclusion for Futurama.

There were quite a few great jokes and the conclusion was touching yet open ended. I can only hope that if the producers get the chance to continue Futurama, that they'll seize this ending as an opportunity to reinvent the show.

One of the best lines of all Futurama came from this movie (paraphrased since I can't find the quote online and I'm too lazy to pull the DVD out again): "There is no scientific proof that life is valuable!" Farnsworth has some of the best quotes.

Yeah, I thought that was especially funny. :D

As for the movie as a whole, I thought it was funny and sincere at the same time. And Zapp Branigan was in top form...

I'd say if Futurama is done, I would be okay with it. But I hope there is more!
