I've seen the idea proposed before. I think the general idea is that the ship technically doesn't move, you just move the universe around it. If you can imagine having a rock in a sock and then holding the rock still and moving the sock around it. you can get the rock anywhere you want it by moving the sock around.

I don't know if it's possible to do that with the universe, but either way, you'll need a hell of a lot of energy to really try it.

I like the Heim theory better because it has predicted masses of a few particles pretty accurately.

But being that I'm not trained in any of this, I'll leave it to the experts.

In principle there is nothing incorrect with a ship sitting at the center of a flat space, surrounded by a warp bubble(or more). The energy requirements can be steep, but the correct geometry can reduce it drastically. I wlll not claim an experiment can be done at this time, but much later in the future...,

I think if we put some effort into it we could either make a FTL type system or find out more about the universe, both worthy goals.

I think the idea of the bubble is very Alcubierre-ish. The formulae behind it may be different, but the idea is very reminescent of it.

Even if it is possible no one will spend the trillion dollars needed to create the technology and build the ship. We will not even spend the billions to build a decent space station or moon colony.

I fear we are stuck on this ball of rock forever.
