It's here!

It's a 2-disc set, featuring the complete score on disc 1 and the original album version on disc 2. Some might consider this redundant but there are some slight differences between a couple of the tracks.

Yay!

I hope this isn't a James Horner-only thing. I'd like to have the complete soundtracks for all the others, too. Especially Star Trek V, VIII and IX.

Right, I got the email heads-up this afternoon. Ordered it post-haste, of course.
With shipping, it totals $30. Kinda pricey, but we've been waiting 26 years so okay.

$30 for a two disc set (including shipping) if just dandy. 26 years! I've been jonesing for a complete release since opening night. My favorite Trek film score complete at last.

Trek II and Trek III on the shelf, next to each other, complete. Music playing on my speakers.

This will be great !!!

Cha-ching! Bought. Grins from ear to ear.

It appears almost everything might be on there, with the exception of that delightful little piece that straddles two scenes; Kirk swearing to Sarek to return Spock to Vulcan, and the Grissom's beam down of David and Saavik to Genesis. If it is attached to any of the unreleased tracks it will be somewhat out of order. Still, that wouldn't bother me if it was included, but I don't see much room for it given the timing of the tracks.

Basill, that's a tracked piece of music, comprised of two cues cut together: "Spock Endures Pon Farr" and "The Klingon's Plan".

I'm sure the liner notes will elaborate on this but according to Lukas Kendall at FSM, that cue actually consists of pieces of two other cues heard in the film.

UPDATE: And I see Indy beat me to it! :)

My favorite of the two Horner Trek scores as far as a stand-alone listening experience goes. The reflective, elegiac, meditative, etc., emotion of this score is just perfect for the movie's tone, just as Horner's work for TWOK suited that movie's dark, mad emotions.

I'm thrilled it's available. The remastering of the GNP release is a nice treat, too; I can retire my old copy!

Yup, on the 26th anniversary of the opening of the film. Such a cool decision to release it that day and not one that a lot of people pick up on or mention.
