The murder of two teenagers by shapeshifters puts the team on the trail of Newton and his people, a trail that leads to Massive Dynamic. Meanwhile, Peter tells Olivia about his family, and Walter tries to remember what memories Newton took from him.

In other news, Leonard Nimoy is retiring from acting, which would suggest that his next Fringe appearance will be his last. So what does that mean for the future of William Bell since the show is coming back for a third season? He gonna die or get killed off? Magical de-aging machine allows Bell to be recast with Zachary Quinto? Straight up recast with Patrick Stewart?

It's funny that you should mention that, I too, was wondering what Nimoy's retirement would mean for the future of William Bell.

Unless J.J. thinks that he can silver-tongue Nimoy into coming back yet again, despite his bluster about really retiring this time...

Oh yeah, tonight's ep looks good, though I'm guessing that 2.0 doesn't learn the truth about himself tonight. I greatly suspect that's being held for the finale.

Easiest in-show explanation if they want to keep the character around -- Bell discovers how they shapeshift, and thus Fringe has their own Dr. Who!

People in the entertainment industry "retire" all of the time. He might come back. His scenes where never that long anyway. I don't see why he can;t do like two five minute scenes a year. Plus Fringe probably won't last season 5 anyway.

I'm optimistic. I know that Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman have a 5Y arc planned. I think there's a good possibility that it could happen.

Someone jog my failing memory, what's the theory behind how these shape-shifters came into being? Were they genetically engineered on the other side?

This guy is like a cross between Liam Neeson and Simon Cowell.

As to the shape-shifters, I don't think they know much as I recall anyway.

I also think there's some significance to the fact that Walter's combination for the lock in 'Jacksonville' is the date of the finale. Could be just an in-joke, but I don't think so,

I missed the first fifteen minutes, what happened? When I turned it on some scientist was telling the heroes about the two universes intersecting every once and awhile.

Shapeshifters returned and killed a couple stoners and took their ID's but one was stillborn.

Who was the scientist telling them about the other universe? How did they meet him, how did he know about it?

Shape-shifters running amuck, Walter almost told 2.0 the truth and some kind of convergence appears to be occuring the next day at 3:21 P.M.
