I was entertained. I also had a feeling that whoever or whatever was brought back to life wouldn't be her since she's long dead, but it was nice how they tied it into Peter/Olivia.

The marionette scene was disturbing though. Fringe sometimes makes X-Files look like a sitcom.

So anyone catch the observer this episode? I never see him. :p

Looks like they're going to be ramping up the observer storyline now.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer's successor is "Supernatural"

"The X-Files" successor is "Fringe"

Although "Fringe" hasn't done a comedy episode where they sing or it's shot in noir style yet.

^No, Fringe just did a musical comedy shot in noir-style and got it all done in one episode.

I'm still trying to wipe that from my memory.

It was a most excellent episode. In fact it was the best one yet. I did like the awkward pause and then the pushing away of Peter. The whole truth telling from Peter about what he did wiped the smile off her face and that was hearbreaking - along with the other scene that I mentioned.

I loved the morbid symbolism of this episode. As a result of Peter's betrayal, Olivia was having parts of herself figuratively removed scene after scene, just as people were literally having their organs removed. And even if you do manage to put them all back together again, you're simply not the same person you once were. Brilliant stuff -- even if the execution of it all, particularly the pacing, was a bit lacking.

Below average episode. It reminded me of the movie May though. You guys should check that out if you're not squeamish.

The marionette scene was probably the creepiest thing I've seen in a tv show all season. What was the music playing during that scene?

Agreed. I'm actually quite glad my daughter decided to sleep in my bed last night. Who wants to be alone in the dark after watching that?

Did no one catch Broyles on the phone at the 22 min mark calling himself Colonel Broyles? Peter sure noticed it...

^ Broyles was an Army Colonel in the past.

From "A New Day in the Old Town" -
SENATOR: Unsubstantited claims of invasion. Reports of technology run amok. The old "X" designation and your fringe investigations have been indulgences in the federal budget for over half a century. Well, the salad days are over, Mister Broyles.

BROYLES: Colonel.

SENATOR: Excuse me?

BROYLES: ...or Special Agent, as you'd prefer, Senator.
Also, at 32 minutes in, the agent dropping off additional patient files to Olivia and Peter at the Harvard lab refers to Broyles as "Colonel," when he says "Colonel Broyles asked me to drop these off."

Well he was a colonel, just retired, not active like in the alternate universe. Could be a writer mistake. Could be he's trying to emulate what he thinks the other Broyles was like.

Broyles is somewhat confusing with his identification anyways. At times he'll identify as FBI, but at the beginning it seemed (to me, anyways) that he was DHS since Fringe Division reports to DHS. Maybe he just uses whatever title he thinks will be best suited for the task of the moment.

Come to think of it, Olivia has alternated between referring to herself as FBI most of the time, and DHS occasionally. Peter and Walter are officially civilian consultants to DHS, but I think I recall Peter having referred to himself as being a consultant to FBI on at least one occasion.
