This was a much better outing and the best episode since "Reciprocity"--it was nothing groundbreaking or classic and the episode tipped its hand about why she was taken too early in the game--which is something Fringe has a bad habit of doing--but it was decently entertaining too bad episodes like these are the exception rather than the norm because episodes like this show how much better Fringe would be with plot-advancing, revelatory arc-based weekly installments instead of filler stalling outings.
Sure a lot of it was standard kidnapping stuff--try to make friends with a sympathetic person, spit out the pills, take someone hostage to facilitate your escape etc but the mysterious atmosphere helped out. It was interesting seeing Fauxlivia being the subject of bizarre experiments after Olivia's earlier in the season. I also liked Henry returning and Walternate comparing notes with the Fringe team. The idea of babies as saviors of a race or miracles or special is getting a little tired--X-Files did it, Lost did, BSG did it now Fringe. And the masked surgical team performing creepy experiments reminded me of Lost and Claire. And while the episode hinted at a possible Fauxlivia/Lincoln pairing that would lead to a love rectangle I don't want to see.
The best moments were the series of scenes with the Observer, Walternate and the revelation he was behind Olivia's kidnapping and is apparently involved with the Observer.
Above average--although the next episode doesn't look that good--I had my fill of going inside one's head back in Star Trek.
