In the year 2036, the Fringe Team takes on the Observers in a war that will change everything.

The Final Four begins with this look ahead to the future. Observers! Desmond! Nina with grey hair! And more.

The new intro (done just for this ep) is cool as all get out:

It does give me a bit of an Orwellian vibe. I'm really curious to see how this future differs from the one we saw at the end of last season, and why we're at war with the Observers.

That's all very good and interesting, but I'm more curious on why the time jump and how it fits into the immediate narration.

Alas, I won't know the answer for a couple of months because I'm on patrol right now.

And by extension of your above thought, why does Walter not look any older than he does now? Unless the show takes place in both the present and 2036, but judging from the picture above, I'm guessing that Walter somehow skips over the intervening 24 years.

lol, i'd love to see Noble as a new Trek Captain or Admiral... he'd kick ass :D

This episode looks like it's going to be quite interesting, and the dystopian vibe it gives from the trailer and previews only add to the intrigue.

As for John Noble as a Captain or Admiral in a Star Trek movie/tv series, all I will say is absolutely yes :D

I can't wait to see tomorrow's episode. I love these mind-bending future episodes.

Procutus: the reason why Walter hasn't aged is because according to one of the sneak peeks of this episode, Walter has been encased in the Amber material for 20 years. You can watch that sneak peek and the others here: http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/04/fringe-episode-419-letters-of-transit-3.html.

Thanks! I'm psyched for this one too; should be one of the seasons better ones, I think.

A big yes from me as well. I've been thinking about that notion all morning here at work, and I'd love to see a new Trek series in the Prime Universe, set either at the very end of the 22nd century or the beginning of the 23rd (say around 2212, maybe). With Noble as a fleet captain. It would be a great way to reference events from ENT while continuing to connect to TOS. It's a pipe dream, I know, but I'd really love to see this.

I'd honestly prefer to see a new series after the end of Voyager in the post-Nemesis universe, but staying away from the novel storylines (because there's some events there that I'm not a fan of). However, John Noble does seem more like the type to be commanding a vessel around the TOS era doesn't he?

I think just having John Noble in anything Trek someday would be awesome. :)

On another note: Didn't Joshua Jackson audition for the role of Kirk in Star Trek 2009? I think he would have made a fine Kirk.

well if you think about it, Fringe could quite happily be a prequal to Trek quite easily...

we saw in season 3 Massive Dynamic working on Transporter technology... with a very similar looking effect in the lab lol

They have the 'dark' mirror universe already set up, just like Trek...

I have no problem imagining Fringe and Trek to be in the same universe lol

Works for me!

Just a brief note, going out with the Missus for her birthday; we should be back by showtime, but I might miss the beginning. Looking forward to our usual gathering tonight.
