Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

I cheered the moment the Observer told Peter that the universe he was in was his home universe all along. I knew it and I knew that Olivia was his Olivia. Losing memories of her alternate life is just the price to pay for Olivia's readjustment.

Peter and Olivia Back Together! Hell Yeah!

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

My big question is if the universe is going to reset itself, does that mean that Nina will no longer have raised Olivia? Did Belly sacrifice himself in the Opera House so that the Team could return? There's still so many questions, which is a prime reason why I want another season (or half, at the least).

I voted 'Good'. For me, the best part was the scene with Peter and September, which should've been a bit longer. As I noted earlier, this reminded me a lot of early Season 1, with the typical 'Freak of the Week' format.

Still, I remain hopeful that the remaining eps turn out to be awesome. Thanks to all of you who showed up, and I'll be looking forward to repeating this in a week's time.

I voted good. I think it was a solid episode, and had some surprises. Yet I don't think anything about it was exceptional. I agree that it had a lot of season one elements, and apparently so does next week's episode.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

I gave up watching this show regularly last season but I've caught an ep here or there when there wasn't much else on like tonite.

I have to say the show seems as weak as usual. I found the purpose of the object from season 1 to be uninspired, the whole revelation that Peter is in his correct universe to be underwhelming and the horrible Fringe lovey dovey mumbo jumbo to be eye-rolling in its idealistic syrupy notions.

The freak-of-the-week was boring and the writers still can't seem to spark the romance enough for me to care about the reunion at the end.

Bad.

They thwarted Prune Face. Next week Flattop (William Forsythe), then The Brow.

Bad.

This, except I wasn't as generous, "Really Bad".

Peter somehow can not be erased from the universe because some hippy notion of love has indelibly etched him into the fabric of the universe. What a load of horseshit.

This season has been relatively inconsistent, the high point being that X-Filesish episode "Welcome to Westfield".

The entire Fringe arc for the past several seasons has been insipid to say the least.

Ha I knew he was home all along! We still haven't found out how Olivia got her memories back though and I wonder if something similar will happen to the rest of the characters.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

I thought it was a very good episode. I did admire the last conversation that Olivia had with Nina and the choice that she made to pass into the Olivia that Peter knew... which she is ... apparently. Alas it came at the expense of Lincoln Lee who has fallen into her role of longing, although it is Olivia who is the target and not Peter.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

This was probably my favourite episode of the season, the ending felt very Lost-esque, loved it.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

One of the best parts was hearing a snippet of "The Friends of Mr. Cairo" by Jon and Vangelis on the soundtrack. Michael Massee's character may have been a twisted killer, but he sure had good taste in classic '80s music! :bolian:

That's one way of putting it!

I too, have a bit of a problem with this explanation, which leads me to wonder if that's not it at all and that September is hiding something else from Peter at this point. I mean shit, it certainly wouldn't be the first time that the Observers have been vague about certain key points. I still believe that it had something to do with The Machine and the fact that Peter's DNA is hard-wired to it. I could be wrong, but yeah, I think the love explanation is flimsy at best.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

So, has September officially gone rogue now?

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

Peter's gonna feel really stupid when September later reveals that all he had to do to restore the original timeline was click his heels together and say "there's no place like home".

But see this isn't the first time the show has used Love[TM] in lieu of a scientific explanation--last season it was stated that the outcome of which universe survived hinged on which Olivia Peter chose:rolleyes: then there was episode "6B" that talked about Love[TM].

Fringe always uses some crackpot science in their stories but the whole love angle for the series' mythology is lame--it reminds me of the whole "only love can produce a Cylon child" from nBSG.

It just is bullshit of the worst kind. People love family members and despite that people still die or can't be cured of serious illnesses. Alzheimers patients have loved ones but they still isn't enough to protect those memories.

In my opinion the only thing the show had going for it was its mythology and over the last two seasons they managed to fuck it up--it smacks of the same weak writing of LOST or nBSG where the writers can't come up with anything clever after building up these arcs for years and in the end go for the lazy and cheap magical mumbo jumbo route.

Fox just needs to put this show out of its misery and try to find something more worthy to fill its slot next season. The writers have had four years and they've drug their feet with boring filler and a drawn out arc.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

^Your opinion has been noted. As for me, this is the night of the week I wait on the most for good tv right now.

Re: Fringe 4X15 - "A Short Story About Love" (Live Commentary, Spoile

To be fair this love angle kind of explains why Olivia and Walter were being haunted by Peter at the beginning of the season. I guess it was their love that anchored him to them even if they'd forgotten him. Also now that Olivia's memories of the original timeline have returned I wonder if something similar will happen to Walter.
