Dollhouse is done. I hope no one's too attached to it.

Not necessarily. Is it a cheap show to make? FOX does not have all that many high rating shows plus it's on a Friday so they already expect lower ratings.

Well I tried to contribute. I had to be out when it started, so I taped the beginning and watched the rest when I got home. I want to do my part to keep Whedon's latest show going, not just because I dig the guy's work on other shows, but because I like this show too. Adelle said there are 3 years left on Echo's contract. That tells me Whedon had hoped (planned?) for the show to last at least 5 seasons. I'm trying to do my part to make that happen, but come on people, I can't do that all by myself. :(

CW – Smallville (season premiere)
Viewers: 2.48 million (#5), A18-49: 1.0/ 4 (#4t)

Friday night death slot indeed. Looks like Smallville is dead. This is the first time the show has gotten under 3 million viewers. Lowest ever ratings for the show.

Networks have given up on Friday nights so thoroughly that I wonder what the standards are for that night? How low can you go to merit Friday-night cancellation?

Umm... you do know if you don't have any connections with Nielsen that your TV watching means nothing right?

NBC would probably love to have Medium back right about now. That show's audience is dedicated.

Joss Whedon told TVGuide they were expressly told by Fox execs that they had to gain viewers or they would be cancelled.

They lost them.

Very sad to see Dollhouse rate so poorly, but in its defense, Fox gave it a crappy lead in that's also off to a terrible start. It isn't just Dollhouse that's faring poorly but Fox's Friday lineup as a whole.

*this* Seriously is there much cross-over between the audience for Brothers and the audience for Dollhouse? I doubt it.

I'd imagine more viewers of Smallville flipped over to watch Dollhouse then viewers of Brothers stayed to watch Dollhouse.

Of course the show had horrible ratings last year with a better lead and everyone expected it to be cancelled so it's not much of a surprise the ratings are garbage this year.

You know, it's not any secret why Fridays perform poorly. Most people have lives on Friday nights.

I've heard that rumor. I never have managed to figure out where people disappear to for these mysterious "lives" they supposedly have though.

Medium is my top-priority program on Fridays. It's great to see it rule its timeslot after being cancelled by NBC.

Are Dollhouse's ratings on Friday any better (or worse) than those for The Sarah Connor Chronicles?
