Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $5.8 million - $168 million

FRIDAY ESTIMATES FROM SHOWBIZDATA

1. NATM - $15.2
2. Terminator - $14.9
3. A&D - $6
4. Star Trek - $5.9

Assuming these are correct, Star Trek is close to $168 million domestic and has a good chance of making over $30 million through Monday.

This represents a 50.7% drop from last Friday for Trek, which is a little larger than Iron Man's 41.8% on its third Friday, smaller than Wolverine's 49.8% drop, and close to Batman Begins 44.7% drop.

after all tomorrow is only a day away..

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

If those numbers are anywhere close to accurate it seems that T4 is on the way to an EPIC FAIL (compared to predictions).

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't even make $150 million domestic. A month ago, many would have predicted something more like $250 million. It's like the inverse of Trek.

Added the early 4-day estimates.

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

Looks like trek is managing to hang with the big dogs this weekend

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

If this number holds, it's a 46.4% drop from last Friday, which is a little larger than Iron Man's 41.8% on its third Friday, smaller than Wolverine's 49.8% drop, and close to Batman Begins 44.7% drop.

Hiring McG was the worst decision that franchise has ever made.

Seriously.

Giving him a $200 million budget wasn't smart either. They should have given less money so it would have been less reliant on CGI and more story-focused.

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

Trek dropped a lot last Friday as well but got better Sat and Sun.

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

Fantastic numbers for Trek considering the competition.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA Termination Salvation! Smart move Warners... spend $200 million on this bomb! Can't wait until it tanks next weekend...

I think Star Trek faces stiffer comp this weekend than angels. It's basically directly competing with Terminator for the sci-fi/youth crowd and competing more with Museum than angels is for the family crowd. I think angels is more for the adult crowd.

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

Thats not good at all for Terminator, how much did Trek make on its first day? Wasn't it 30m when you factor in the early screenings the day before?

Terminator did not seem to have any major effect on Trek, either on Thursday or Friday. A&D had a much larger percentage drop than Trek (more than double).

Terminator is nothing without Arnold. And does this mean that Bale can't open a big movie without being Batman?

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

But I still think it's affecting Trek more than Angels.

Yeah, I know that's what you're saying. I'm just saying the numbers for the first two days of Terminator's release don't reflect that at this point.

Re: Early Friday Estimates - Star Trek #4 - $6.3 million

Bale is a good actor, I just don't think he is that great in action roles myself. Honestly, his fucking Batman voice ruined Begins for me and Ledger made TDK pretty good.
