Friday Estimate - $1.5 million

2nd Weekend Multiplier: 3.66 x 1.575 = $5,764,500
4th Weekend Multiplier: 3.48 x 1.575 = $5,481,000
5th Weekend Multiplier: 3.35 x 1.575 = $5,276,000

Not sure which multipier to expect because of the unusually low Friday increase.

Missed out 3rd weekend because it was a 4-day weekend.
 
I predict a final domestic total of 240-250 million.

231 or 232 million by the end of this weekend. Another 2-3 million this week. Another 3 million next weekend...plus this movie will be in theatres well into July...allowing the number to creep over 240 million and close in on 250...people on here seem to think that Transformers will end everything...Trek will continue to make money, slowly but surely, well into mid-summer...

Simply put, Trek 2009 is a massive success beyond anyone's expectations. People are whining about it not making 250 million?? Many of the same people were predicting a year (or even two months ago) that is would be a flop and not even make 100 million.

I don't think there's been a single person whining about it not making $250 million. It's just the next threshold so it's what is being discussed.
 
Actually I see the next threshold as exceeding TMP's inflation-adjusted domestic gross (let's say 239 millionish)...then on to 250 million!!!

The character of Dr. Taylor was originally a male character who was a wacky college professor who was a "UFO nut," and, for added humor to the lighthearted script, actor Eddie Murphy was offered the role. He declined and decided on The Golden Child instead (a decision he admits later was a big mistake), and Catherine Hicks won the role. According to William Shatner's Star Trek Movie Memories, Eddie Murphy actually approached Nimoy and Bennett wanting to be in the film, as he was a huge Trek fan, but it was his agents and Paramount themselves who decided mixing the studio's two biggest (at the time) franchises (Star Trek and Beverly Hills Cop) in one film wasn't the best idea. Nicholas Meyer later stated that when he came in to write the 20th century section of the film, he realized the earlier drafts were written with Murphy in mind.

That's a pretty good Friday number at this point, although I was hoping for a little more. I haven't given up on $250M at this point.

Given where the film is now, I think passing ST:TMP's adjusted domestic gross is a given.
 
I haven't given up on $250 million yet either, but I'm not super confident we'll make it. But if we do make it, it'll be just barely
 
EARLY WEEKEND ESTIMATES from DHD:

1. THE HANGOVER - $34 million
2. UP - $32.5 million
3. PELHAM 1 2 3 - $24 million
4. NATM 2 - $9.5 million
5. LAND OF THE LOST - $8.9 million
6. IMAGINE THAT - $6 million
7. STAR TREK - $4.8 million
8. TERMINATOR SALVATION - $4.7 million
9. DRAG ME TO HELL - $3.7 million
10. ANGELS & DEMONS - $3.8 million

I think Trek's estimate is on the low end, especially since some of the numbers she posted in her write-up don't match what she listed at the end of the article.

The Hangover dropped less than 25% which is amazing for a second weekend, and already over $105 million. It's really outpacing Wedding Crashers, which made $209 million.
 
About what was expected, I think... and definitely not bad for this point in its run. I'm a little skeptical about it reaching $250 domestic, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Either way, I continue to be impressed with how this film has done.

BTW, are there any international markets in which Star Trek has not yet opened?
 
I don't know about anywhere else, but here most Unis are on stuvac or exam mode at the moment. Some students (like me even though I've already been twice) will have completed their exams so have 4-5weeks break from uni - more movie going time.

I'm thinking about going again on Wednesday.

It should be open in pretty much all international markets.
