The Arrowverse just keeps on expanding. The latest installment is a new animated web series called Freedom Fighters: The Ray which will be coming to CW Seed in 2017. Raymond “Ray” Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a “genetic light bomb.” The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice – he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists. The Ray will be the first gay superhero to lead a show and the plan is to cast a voice actor who will also appear on one of the live-action shows. You can read more here. A version of The Ray got a four-issue series a couple of years ago with no mention of the Freedom Fighters but since the group is included in the show's title, I assume we'll see them at some point. That's assuming they don't change the title. You can read about the team here.
