Free DAZ Pro 3D Software - STILL AVAILABLE!!

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

Anybody else finding the Bryce Pro Content EXE won't load for them? Or am I just being technologically unlucky again?

Redownload. Mine kept crashing half way through the install. Then again, I was running w(h)ine.

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

No wonder it's free - Studio just failed to install properly and fucked up my computer

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

^ What happened, mate? "Fucked" is a rather broad description.

Then again, I was running w(h)ine.

What in the world does that mean?

Wine, sometimes known as Whine, is an application that makes it possible to run windows software on Ubuntu, for instance. Basially it fools the app into thinking it installs and runs on an windows machine. Its basically a glorified emulator.

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

The hell is Ubuntu!? :wtf:

Anyhoo, it was my mistake - I tried to install the 64-bit version on my 64-bit computer. Silly me. The 32-bit version installed fine.

Didn't have any problems installing the 64-bit version, nor any download issues. All my frustrations stem from the lack of documentation, and error messages like, "This product requires another product in order to be isntalled," and doesn't tell you WHAT product that might be! Turns out I HAD the other product, but it wasn't in the same "default" directory that this 'dependent' product set as a default. The D|S installation routines are only a little idiotic, to say the least, but I have finally managed to get the content installed to the point where I can now start learning the program.

Don't bother looking for manuals - their documentation wiki is pretty half-assed, and several items in "Help" just say, "Coming Soon" (thanks, DAZ!!); however, each of the tabs in the program contain links to some fairly helpful YouTube videos on each of the program's major tools.

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

Si, the YouTube vids got me started. There's not a lot of content in Studio to play with, though. Need to find some current US soldier clothes and weapons for what I want to do. And some TNG-era Starfleet stuff. :D

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

Just downloaded my copies, know I just need to learn the programs

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

It's amazing how many programs I have that I still haven't had time to figure out. :(

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

I noticed that in addition to the software, there is a bunch of other stuff you can currently get for free (models, plugins, etc):
free stuff

Keep in mind though that a few of these free items require models/plugins that cost money. So make sure to check the description before you download.

ETA: Oh, and thanks Ptrope!

ETA 2: I wanted to make special note of the motion capture recorder. Yes, as in the kind of stuff they do for CGI characters in movies. For free. You need to have a Kinect, or multiple PS3 Eye or other DirectShow compatible cameras to make use of it, though. It's the product called "iPi Recorder".

I believe "iPi Recorder" merely provides integration with the iPi motion capture application, which is itself $300 and up depending on which license you need. I could be mistaken though..

Ah, you are right. Never mind then.

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software through Feb. 29

The deal has now been extended through the end of March.

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software - now through Mar. 31!

Just so y'all know, they are still offering these programs free for download. I don't know how long they will remain so, perhaps indefinitely, but you should get them while they're hot if you haven't yet.

Re: Free DAZ Pro 3D Software - now through Mar. 31!

Great software. I've made some renders with DAZ Studio 4. There are also more 3D resources regarding Star Trek. See my files using links in signature.

Daz 3d Pro is still available as of this posting along with three sister applications. Grab them while you can! :)

Since i rarely come to this section this is the first time I've seen this post. Clicked the link & it looks like 4.5 is still free, Hexagon & Bryce are $19.95 each. Going to grab this even though I couldn't draw a straight line on a flat surface if a straight edge was nailed to it.
