Frank Darabont's LA Noir on TNT

It's just a pilot order, but I'm rooting for it to go the distance. Sounds great!

L.A. Noir, the spec script Frank Darabont started shopping shortly after his ouster from AMC’s The Walking Dead, has landed at TNT with a pilot order. The project is based on John Buntin’s book L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America’s Most Seductive City, which chronicles the epic battle between Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker and mobster Mickey Cohen.

...L.A. Noir is the true story of a decades-long conflict between the LAPD, under the determined leadership of Parker, and ruthless criminal elements led by Cohen, a one-time boxer who rose to the top of LA’s criminal world. The series is a fast-paced crime drama set in Los Angeles during the 1940s and ’50s. It’s a world of glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads, returning war heroes, a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make LA its West Coast base.

I opened this thread wondering if this was literally based off the game. I actually wouldn't mind seeing more of Rusty or that guy from vice squad.

Anyway, I'm a sucker for 30's-50's detective stories, so I'm rooting for this.

This project has been talked about as "a sure thing" for months now. Kind of weird TNT would have so much faith in it, sight unseen.

The articles say that TNT brass are awaiting an "official screening," which suggests the possibility that some or all of the pilot may have already been seen.

And how soon will Darabont be ousted from the ranks after another potentially successful show? AMC can go fwck themselves for how they handled the Walking Dead. My hope is that the show doesn't suffer as a result.
