News Franchises will find a way.....( Jurassic Park 7 planned)

Saw Rebirth the other day. It is worth seeing on the big screen.

Of course, the franchise hasn't produced a sequel that is in the same league as the original Jurassic Park, but, then, the original was one of those rare masterpieces.

Which us why Jurassic Park 3 makes for a more fun ride than The Lost World. It never tried to be anything more than 'people need to run from dinosaurs'. The Lost World tried to preach. And it failed.
FYI, I still enjoy The Lost World. Fuck it, I love the franchise. But I do realize the only good movie was the first one.

Well, I'll give The Lost World some marks given it was based on the only sequel Crichton wrote, which stayed fairly close to the book for the most part. Ironically, it probably stays closer to its book than the original movie did with its book. And I also have to give it marks because Crichton cited my Uncle (who's now a retired Paleontologist from Philly) as a source when writing it.

Wife and I watched it last night. It's basically an action movie with the occasional random dino getting free dinner, dumb as can be characters running away a lot and the obligatory rich sociopath.

Not one moment of wonder as in the first (remember seeing the herd of brachiosaurs for the first time?). I started trying to figure out who will be alive when the credits rolled by the second reel. That's about the time my wife started mocking the plot. I only got one of the survivors wrong 😆

We regretted paying to see it instead of waiting for free on a streaming service

To go back to how we'd rate them, of course the original is my favorite, but I'd actually put the first Jurassic World as my second favorite, I just thought it was a lot of fun getting to an actual open park before things go to hell. And I like Owen and Claire. I'd put Lost World and Fallen Kingdom tied for third very close behind the first JW. Don't remember 3 or Dominion well enough to rank them. The only thing I remember about Dominion was that I was really disappointed they didn't do more with the dinos out in the wild after the first few minutes. After all the promotional stuff, I had assumed that was what whole movie was going to be about, and was disappointed with how little it dealt with that stuff.

I will add that this is the second time Spielberg has recently executive produced something that has disappointed me.
That ship sailed for me a long time ago. Too many awful Transformers movies with his name on them. But even before that, I never liked The Money Pit. ;)

Demetrodon-one of the "mammal like reptiles"-appeared in Dominion. Conceivably you could have had a spin off franchise, Permian Park.

So...could humans co-exist with the ancient sailbacks?

Why not? We could have sail riders who control them with hooks like in Dune. The new-oldest way to cross the desert.

What idiots keep getting feedback about nobody caring about hybrids and then immediately making another movie about hybrids? The dinosaurs are cool enough already. They're freaking dinosaurs. I really hated most of the characters in this one and there's only about 45 minutes of interesting things going on. The more I think about it, the more I didn't like it.

It's a meta reference to the fact studio execs actually say "people are bored of dinosaurs" whenever a new Jurassic Park/World movie is pitched.
