The famous Jonathan Frakes has been doing some cogitating about what looks like a major glut of Trek material. His thoughts are in the following link:

While the word of Frakes isn't gospel or infallible, it always gives me warm feelings to see him speak highly of the ongoing projects and the state of creation for the most beloved series. I really hope they get him directing all the time, and the commenters on the link are correct in that getting him to direct the pilot of the Picard series seems poetic.
