Ah man, you can't make this shit up! :rommie:
Fox has roped in a Western drama from "Chuck" executive producer Scott Rosenbaum.

...

Described as an epic Western with a sci-fi twist, the show will revolve around "a gunslinger caught between worlds" and will feature a nod to "Planet of the Apes," said Rosenbaum, who is executive producing with Wonderland's McG and Peter Johnson.

"What I'm really interested in is the revamping of the Western genre where you still have all of the iconic Western themes and iconic Western tropes but the idea is that it will feel incredibly contemporary and will introduce the Western to a whole new generation," Rosenbaum said.
Hmm, a nod to POTA? Can't think of what that could possibly be! :p

Next week on Space Ranger Brisco Firefly Jr., Brisco discovers that the Crisco at the Costco in Nu Francisco helps his mojo, while Neruda, the hooker-warrior turned chief engineer, takes a war orphan under her wing, but Doc Julip thinks there's something mysterious about the boy.

A scifi western on FOX from the executive producer of Chuck??

So, will FOX cancel early or will it survive long enough to go to complete shit in the second season? It's like a race to see who can fuck things up first.

I understand these are the first few episode titles...

The Dark Bananna Tree: The Gunslinger
The Dark Bananna Tree: The Drawing of Opposable Thumbs
The Dark Bananna Tree: Help me, Dr. Zaius!
The Dark Bananna Tree: Whatever happened to T.C. McQueen?
The Dark Bananna Tree: Doesn't Matter, We Pre-empt for NFL
The Dark Bananna Tree: Doesn't Matter, We Pre-empt for NFL
The Dark Bananna Tree: Doesn't Matter, We Pre-empt for NFL
The Dark Bananna Tree: Doesn't Matter, We Pre-empt for NFL

-Series cancelled due to low ratings

Sounds like that old 80s animated series "Bravestarr". This'll be interesting to see if it comes to fruition.

I think it's interesting how the dialogue will primarily be Chinese with the occasional bit of English thrown in.

.
Our hero will continuely shift between post civil war Dodge City, a world of cattle barons, gunslingers, card hustlers,
.
hookers with hearts of gold and cowboys, and another world full of damn dirty apes.

I don't get why everytime a "sci-fi western" comes up people suddenly think it's a rip of Firefly. Newsflash: Oblivion, Galaxina, the Wild Wild West (the good one with Bob Conrad and the crapfest with Will Smith) and about a half dozen other films and TV shows I've forgotten had been doing the SF western thing long before Firefly came along.

All that said, this is Fox so as noted, it's pretty much cancelled already. The renewal of Dollhouse was a fluke (Whedon himself has said the better SF show got cancelled), and Fringe's survival is probably due less to its SF underpinnings as it is the fact it's managing to hit the right X-Files-cum-NCIS buttons.
