Fox picks up Narnia franchise.

I'm excited, but a little worried about the reduction in budget. I would think a story like this, much of it told aboard a ship at sea, would require a significant budget to make it believable.

$140 million isn't anything to sneeze at. Trek XI had a a ~$150 million budget, and that film looks like it's going to be huge.

I dunno. The Dark Knight had a purported budget of $180 million, and I have no idea where all that money went. X-Men: The Last Stand, a 20th Century Fox Production, was made for over $200 million. Movies are getting so much more expensive these days.

I think with Dark Knight, a lot of the money went to practical effects and the IMAX shots. Blowing up a hospital with practical effects can't be cheap. Plus the cast itself probably took up some additional cost. Trek IX has a much cheaper cast, IMO.

I'm happy the movie got picked up by another studio even if it is Fox. The Magican's Nephew is my favourite of the books, don't really remember much of the Dawn Treader. Remember watching the old BBC film adaption of it though when I was younger. I think they made up to the Silver Chair...

As long as Harry Gregson-Williams still does the music, I'll be happy. Haven't seen any of the movies, but I love the scores. :D

I'm glad to see the film series will get to continue, even though I was underwhelmed by Prince Caspian. Hopefully, Apted will inject some new life into the franchise, and do for it what Alfonso Cuaron did for the Harry Potter movies.

I'm happy that the movie series will continue, and also happy that my opinion of Dawn Treader as the best of the book series is not alone around the TrekBBS :D! I hope they're able to make a movie as great as the book with this one.

Interestin'...

I was kinda bummed when Disney dropped the franchise, and spent a couple of days looking for a news bite saying that the initial story was false. I'll take a Fox version, they don't fuck everything up....

Awesome.

Tho I really want to see Magicians Nephew. The first thought I had when I saw the first movie was "I want to see Charn...".
