Fox News Domination Continues

See, people really are sick of the one sided reporting.
No, they clearly don't, since FOX does everything except claim as their slogan 'FOX NEWS: Official Propaganda Channel of the GOP (TM)'. You'd have to be blind to think that FOX is not horribly biased. There's a reason why Dick Cheney required that anytime he checked into a hotel room, FOX News was supposed to be the preset channel.

Why do you open these threads here? This can't end well. And what really is the point besides starting a political discussion?

Why does it necessarily have to start a political discussion? This is the forum for the news media, is it not?

Technically correct (the best kind of correct) but you know what this is, don't be cute about it.

Let's see, in your previous post in this thread you attacked me. I chose to overlook it until you pressed it here. If you don't like the topic then simply don't post in the thread, okay?

Tea-baggers coming to a mouth near you!

Making sexually reprehensible jokes about a group of people you've never me doesn't strike me as a way to convice people that you're credible.

I'm referring to CNN and MSNBC of course. They apparently have nothing of substance to say and that's why hardly anyone watches them.

Listen, TLS, you and I usually get along okay usually because you're a smart enough guy to know what your agenda is and you don't try to hide it. Why the evasiveness here? Go ahead and make a blatantly partisan post! It's actually kind of entertaining. Just don't shy away from it when someone calls it what it is.

Hey, most anyone who posts most anything on any of these boards does so with a bias. I remember during the election campaign when Olbermann won one night in the ratings (O'Reilly was on vacation) it was plastered all over the place. Biased or not, Fox News domination in the ratings has just as much of a place being posted here as anywhere else. I will admit it though. I AM biased. You got me there.

Question: If MSNBC or CNN were to be #1 next week, would you have a problem with someone posting it here?

Oh, and thanks for being cool about it in your previous post. much appreciated.

The only reason you care that FOX news is on top is because they share your politics, thus confirming their bias. If MSNBC or CNN got big in the ratings I wouldn't give a shit because I honestly don't care. Cable news is the last place to go to get accurate and unbiased information, it is just a circle-jerk of egotistical commentators who want to be part of the story. I find many of the shows funny (like Beck's constant meltdowns) but if every cable news channel disapeered tomorrow, only the right-wing would feel they were missing anything.

Doubtful, because CNN and MSNBC can't go more than two days without running a story about Rush Limbaugh. They constantly portray him as being the one who all Democrats are running against, and that feeds their fringe. As I noted on page one of this thread, CNN hardly reports the news.

Well of course Fox is always Number 1. Liberals and the rest would rather watch CSI and American Idol. If Liberals were half as dedicated to "The Cause" like conservatives are, Olberman's ratings would be through the roof. Conservatives obsess about this political shit like it's life and death. Just look at this thread. There's a whole cottage industry and an entire electronic medium(Radio) dedicated to supplying them with their daily dose of outrage. That's the reason why most Liberal Talk Radio fails. There's no market for it because, lets face it, there ain't a whole lot of Democrat truckdrivers.

Although it must be pointed out more people do watch Headline News then Fox. CNN has a higher cume(people who turn in for a few minutes to catch up on the headlines and then turn it off) then Fox, which has higher ratings(people who watch the whole thing for the whole hour). Olberman does beat O'Reilly in most of the key demos though. He also has to split his audience with Stewart and Colbert. Ratings are really pointless in the sceme of things. It's not about how many are watching, it's who. This is what advertisers look for. Key demo = more advertising cash. So Stewart, Colbert, and Olberman's key demos of younger people are always higher then O'Reilly's key demo's of old farts. Because young people spend money on stuff. Old people don't.

They do the same job of it that Fox does, which is to say a terrible one.

Didn't I hear that that CNN reporter, and I use that term as loosely as possible, get her crap slapped back in her face after she was off the air?

It took that man about 5 seconds after the CNN cameras went off to drop an F-bomb.

I believe Mr. Olbermann has been melting down far longer than Beck. ;)

Now, most can agree that ALL cable and network news are biased in some regard. At least Fox throws on SOME token liberals however.

Well the accurate ONE point that you have is about truck drivers. Not likely to be dems since they're actually working. ;)

Token liberals? Colmes is gone, you don't have that excuse anymore. And those guys that go on O'Reiley to get yelled at don't count either.

Most people watch cable/opinion news to have their pre-existing opinions reinforced. I know people who switch over to MSNBC or FOX or CNN from one of the other channels during completely unbiased non-political coverage because for some reason they feel that channel can't be trusted to tell them the news when really it is that they don't feel the host agrees with them politically. Usually it is people switching over to, or away from FOX.

Most of america is in the middle, the only reason FOX dominates the cable news front is 1. They figured out that the right was an easily exploited audience that didn't have anywhere else to turn to have its opinions reinforced and 2. They figured it out a long time before CNN and MSNBC went the other direction. Oh, and 3. Young people have better things to do than watch cable news.

Prove me wrong and I might agree with you.

Many of those watching Fox are doing so to watch the freakshow meltdown that seems to fill most of their programming since the election.
I personally enjoyed watch CNN and MSNBC freaking out over Bush in a hysterical fashion night in night out.

I find biased people who can't acknowledge that to lack any objectivity.
Case in point with Davros and those like him who honestly think these other networks are unbiased when stats and surveys have shown those anchors to out right admit to their bias the last few years.

Fox at least admits it reports with a conservative slant. It commentators(not be confused with news which the left so often has trouble separating) also admit their slant. You don't get that out of the Socialist backed channels AT ALL.
