Fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" Movie...

Even though At World's End was a clunky and bloated attempt at LotR on water and the considerably better Dead Man's Chest was still an overplotted runaround, I'm still looking forward to the possible fourth instalment to the surprise hit franchise. Although it's not coming out until as relatively far into the future as 2011 and that is enough time to come up with a better script that would calm Mark Kermode down.

I'm burned out on this franchise. It'd take a lot for me to consider it.
The original was a nice surprise if only because expectations were so low.
The follow-ups not only break the internal rules of the series it blantaly ignores others when convenient(yeah yeah they are Pirates).

I'd go smaller and more intimate if I were Disney.

While I will admit that the pirate theme will get me any time, and that I WILL drag myself to see a fourth installment in this franchise, I really wonder if that is at all necessary. If Disney was on the brink of bankruptcy and really needed something to get them back on track, I suppose that would justify it, but aren't there enough writers out there to pen them stories involving new characters and plots?

The first one was a fun summer romp. The second was overly plotted but still amusing. The third was a bit of a mess, frankly, and very uneven.

I really don't see the need for another. Surely, the money could be better spent on developing new projects.

POC - Classic and best of series

POC 2 - I guess overall not bad but weakest of series due to a running length that was not needed and cliffhangers don't work for movies as well as they do for TV shows.

POC 3 - A weird start and lacluster way to explain the whole locker thing but it was Decent send off and much better than number 2

I would look forward to a 4th one if Depp & Rush were in it, but not for at least 3/4 more years.

I thought the first wasn't particularly good. I was more impressed the first time I saw it than the second time. It's an okay movie overall, not great but not terrible. Johnny Depp's performance almost convinces you otherwise. Consequently, I opted not to see the two sequels.

The first movie was enjoyable. The second one could've been fine if it were about 20-30 minutes shorter. The third one was just trash considering the setup from the second one.

As for the fourth one, unless it gets some seriously good word of mouth, I'll wait for the Blu-Ray a few months after its theatrical run.

There are internal rules to a movie franchise made from a kiddie ride? I've got to hear these. Can you list some?

I liked the sequels. They were nothing special, but still fun. Though the overbloated special effects may have had something to do with that.

Enough of the Pirates movies. When's Disney going to make PeopleMover, starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Robert Downey, Jr. as the Tomorrow Land Transit Authority?

Quality. "Orlundo Bland"

Saw the first film around 2004, thought it was total gash, you'd have to pay me an awful lot to make sit through any sequels

Liked the trilogy. However if they are going to do a fourth movie they have to return to the smaller scale of the first movie. The sequels tried too hard to be epic and 30 minutes could be cut from each of the two sequels without losing anything.

-Pirates have "guidelines" Curse...Now we have a whole rule book Worlds End.
-Pirates don't team up(I think that is from Balboa in DMC) but by Worlds End they are gathering a whole damn Pirate armada. The crew even comments on the oddness of two captains together in DMC.

Thats off my head. I haven't seen each flick more than twice and in some time despite owning the first two.

I love the first one for being fun and crazy.

The second was a mess, plain and simple, and in 2.5 hour movie very little happened, almost nothing at all.

Never saw the 3rd, see no point in it.

I liked them. But then, I love those actors, so no big surprise there. IMO, Johnny Depp is the most talented actor in Hollywood and can do pretty much no wrong...and Orlando could stand on an empty stage for 2 hours and I'd go to see it, he is so beautiful.

However, that said, the first and the third ones were the best. The second one was pretty much set-up for the third. But the third leaves Orlando stuck on the Flying Dutchman...and that's kinda depressing. :p

We need a 4th, just so that Jack Sparrow can find a...erm...'creative' way of getting Will off the Flying Dutchman without ill effects.

I love the whole trilogy. I definitely welcome a fourth movie, but only if it focuses on Jack Sparrow. That works out considering Keira Knightley has said she's done everything she can with the character. And Depp will only do it if the script is good and I trust his judgment.

I enjoyed all three so far so I'm open to a fourth movie. It's a fun franchise. However, I also agree it should focus on Sparrow. He simply is the most interesting character IMHO (thanks in no small part to Depp).

That pretty much sums up how I feel about the movies. I loved the first one--it was so much fun. I didn't see the second one until DVD and thought it was enjoyable, with a great ending. The third one was just nonsensical and impossible to follow.

I don't think there needs to be a new one, either.

Maybe some sort of prequel? Wasn't that discussed way back when? Johnny Depp as Sparrow will always be a draw. I imagine most people would probably check it out, so if the studio is looking to make money (and aren't they always), it's pretty much a sure thing.

^ How about a prequel where Steven Williams is the pirate captain and his crew is Johnny Depp, Holly Robinson, Dustin Nguyen, Peter DeLuise and Richard Greico? They're actually lawmen who go undercover as pirates to catch pirates, but Jack Sparrow gets in too deep and doesn't know which end is up anymore. :)
