That is awesome. Or at least, it sounds as though I would think it was awesome if I understood a word of it. I can't honestly say that I understood much of it though. Here was an eye-catching passage from the article:

As mind-boggling as the concept may be for most of us, these researchers were able to harness the properties of crystal formation to devise a clock that operates in 4 dimensions, needs no power source and will keep time even after the universe as we know it comes to an end.

Later in the article it clarifies that the end of the universe to which it refers is the postulated heat death.
