Is there a place on the TrekBBS forums to post announcements about memorabilia for sale that won't result in a permanent ban from the TrekBBS? I was just hoping to get some attention for an item, and got spanked for it...

Sadly, no.

For that matter, there really isn't much of a place to discuss memorabilia at all. For whatever reason, folks think the Trek Art forum is the best place. I've no idea why.

Thanks for returning my hail. Perhaps I'll try the Trek Art forum then. They should put up a sub-forum for collectors and sellers. Being located in the backwaters myself, I am limited to online auctions and self-promotion when I decide to part with one of my TV promotional "toys", unless I want to get ripped off by a tiny comic book store owner (see Simpsons CBG, lol).

You can add my voice to those who would appreciate a Trek Toys forum. I've always thought it was daft to turn to the Trek Art forum for anything related to memorabilia. How hard is it to create a new forum??

OK, it's posted in Trek Art, along with a plea to the moderators to please let me know if I've acted inappropriately instead of just banning me outright like last week. Kinda made me feel like a Ferengi for a minute there. It took me 8 years to pass through the five Stages of Acquisition and I was just trying to honor Rule #7.

My bad - I checked the FAQ and rules specifically for the Forums, not for TrekBBS as a whole. I appear to be in violation of the no-solicitation rule. Apologies to all BBS members.

Unless there is a licensing problem i.e.-Paramount, it would be a good idea to have an area designated to talk about Trek memorabilia. Has it been tried with poor results or something? I am not a collector, but have noticed that many members are collectors or just plain proud to own something Trek.

I am a collector and a fan, and I think in Trek that's pretty damn common. The forum doesn't need to be a trading post, but hell, a place where people can go to talk about their collections etc would be a no brainer.

Talking about it is fine, and it's absolutely encouraged here in General Trek Discussion. I quite like to read about memorabilia. As previously mentioned in the thread, Trek Art is often the home to discussion about figures and so.

However we don't allow people to advertise or sell here for two reasons. Firstly, making money from Star Trek probably isn't appreciated by Paramount. Also, we don't want to be involved with any fallout from deals that haven't worked out as a seller or buyer wants.
