Forged in Fire....with some *spoilers*...

As noted, we were a bit hampered by what people knew came later. When one writes the "fill in the gaps" stories, one has to hit all of the notes.

Glad you sort of enjoyed it, and thanks for the compliment on Qagh. I felt he really was a strong and compelling villain.

I would say I more than sort of enjoyed it. Despite my issues with the structure of Forged in Fire, I thought the character work largely made up for it. As much as I enjoyed The Sundered, now I wish that Cutler had stuck around a little while longer. I enjoyed her arc as well.

Hey Rush - thanks for the welcome. I've never gone away, just not much to post about since I'm (unfortunately) not writing much Star Trek these days. I am writing some stuff for Star Trek Magazine though, as the editor there is a real stand-up guy!

But I do check on here daily to see if there are threads of interest...

Well, at any rate, sir, it's good to see you contributing again. :)

(BTW...let me state for the record that all my obsessive-compulsive rants on your and Mike's creative decisions when you wrote Trill: Unjoined [i.e., the emotionally dark conflict and break-up between Ezri and Julian] were purely in respectful disagreement with the creative decision. In no way was it meant as a judgement on your respective writing skills.

In fact, my analysis of the break-up, and the events leading up to it, actually inspired quite a bit of fan-fic on my part.

And finally, any "colorful metaphors" I may have unfortunately spewed out on the subject of the "resolution" of the Ezri/Bashir relationship were, I assure you, meant in the best possible way, and...:()

No problem, Rush. I don't mind people disagreeing or criticizing aspects of my work, as long as they're specific in what didn't work for them.

I posted this to another thread on another site, regarding Wonder WOman, and it's apropos here:

Writers want fans to talk about their work and be passionate about it. And while they mostly want them to like it, if they DON'T like it, the writers would at least prefer you to be able to clearly and POLITELY articulate what you don't like.

"I don't like your cooking" is a very much internet-style criticism.
More legitimate and specific criticism is "I don't like that you burn the toast, that you put too much pepper in the scrambled eggs, and that your pasta is still crunchy."
