DMC did a great job of setting up a potentially epic trilogy, but it was ruined for me by AWE. It's impossible for me to view those as two separate movies since DMC doesn't really resolve anything. If DMC had been another standalone story like COTBP, I think it would have been much better. Unfortunately, trying to be epic was probably its biggest mistake.

It resolves Jack's character arc and the story of whether or not he's going to keep running from his deal with Davy Jones, and that's good enough for moi.
