For Odo...

Atolm

Commodore
Commodore
This is my very late tribute to René Marie Murat Auberjonois (Odo).

This was an extremely hard one for me, as for years I have been pondering something for him. This time, I decided to go with the character Odo, for inspiration. I thought about how Odo wanted to be with the link, and how he also wanted to be with Kira, and change the how the Dominion conducted themselves with other races... So I opted a diplomatic vessel that was fluidic in it's shape, to reflect its creators.

So René was never forgotten by me, but just had to wait until I found something I considered worthy of him.

Dominion Overture-Class Diplomatic Cruiser:

Well done! I like it. Is it called the "Odo"? I dont remember what the Dominion named their ships after. Maybe they might use references to the Founders.

Thanks,
Canonically, I do not believe that there are any names for their vessels, and I almost didn't even use a class name, as we do not know the Dominion ships other than "role" : Battleship, battlecruiser, attack ship, etc... So this would be just Diplomatic ship, rather than Overture-class.

I guess that's a gap you can fill as you please, so they never came up with class names etc that doesn't mean that you can't do so. :mallory:

They might have something like "Battleship No. 7". For administrative purposes they probably have a designation of some kind. Like a "Type 14 Cruiser". Etc. As you say, we can fill in the gaps as we go along.

Yeah... we know that the Female Changeling seemed to be indifferent towards the minutia of day to day logistics and left those details to subordinates (Ironically, this was not the case with Odo, who wanted to know and be involved with whatever was going on when it came to station security)... So I could totally see what you are suggesting, as the Jem Hadar were all about efficiency, and not sentimentality, making a numerical/alpha-numerical designation system very realistic.

The only solids she had any use for were the Breen…she had great respect for them. There is a part of me that could see a tie to the Engineers of Prometheus…as her people could be considered the end product?

The Breen design is just Eaves version of ALIEN’s Juggernaut after all :)

Hmmm
I thought canonically the Breen were not solids exactly (Discovery 32nd century).
The Breen vessel in DS9 was not Eave's Juggernaut (At the time of his designing the ship it would not be the juggernaut, as it was not invented yet... I believe you mean the Derelict from Alien, and that was a very different design from the Juggernaut from Prometheus. Unless you say the TOS Enterprise is the same as the one from SNW or the JJprise.). Eaves never even used it as a muse for the Breen vessel... As a matter of fact, it started out as a symmetrical idea.
So are you just presenting your own fanon ideas with your comment?

Yes, as an aside. I wasn’t aware the Breen weren’t solids (didn’t see Discovery)

Their DS9 ships and the ALIEN Juggernauts suggest a love of asymmetrical designs.

In Prometheus, we see a generic saucer as perhaps the Engineers most commonly used ship—but my head canon is the ship from ALIEN is designed after a glyph representing death.

The idea of different ships as symbols can perhaps be found in the Galor class.

Star Wars had its own alphabet fighters…but alphabet capital ships hasn’t been done yet.

The Engineer saucer should have looked like this ;)

—which actually would make for a cool design.

Lastly, I have sad news to relate. U.S.S. Enterprise is coming to my state….to be scrapped:
