For Astronomers: The Star Trek Observing List

S'kai

Captain
Captain
FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STELLAR CARTOGRAPHY, SCIENCES DIVISION, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN NCC-71809

The Star Trek Observing list is an astronomical index to the celestial objects mentioned in Star Trek, all versions. It was created by Clara Scattolin, and presented at David Levy's Adirondack Astronomy Retreat in August of 2010. It contains coordinates, finder views, and phonographs of the objects mentioned, as well as which episodes they were mentioned in. Appendices cover stars that have actually been determined to have planets, and a listing of those objects viewable from her home town.

Clara is 12 years old, from Montreal.

The list may be accessed here.

Hey this is really good! I've been wanting to make something like this but my good computer is down (and its the good one!), but glad to see one out there!

That's wonderful; thank-you for the link.

I predict a bright nerdy future for Clara.

sorry about that perils of a slow connection I think

Oh my God, that is so cool! I love looking up at the sky at night after watching Star Trek and wondering what it's actually like out there. Are there really Vulcans and Romulans? Well, maybe not, but there definitely are stars to be explored. It's just such a wonderful feeling to be able to see with your own eyes a part of your favorite SciFi TV show. It's that awareness that what you've only seen on screen and what you've only imagined has true potential to become real.

She did a great job.

Wow 12 years old, I feel like a somewhat inadequate contribution to society now.
