Fletch reboot - with John Hamm

Kirby

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Apparently Jon Hamm has finished filming Confess, Fletch and it's supposed to be more true to the Fletch novels and less comedic than the Chevy Chase version, but hopefully it at least has the humor from the novel.
As a teenager, Fletch was (and frankly still is) one of my favorite movies. Fletch Lives was an abomination, and not worthy of discussion.

I like Jon Hamm, although I think he's a little old to play Fletch, but we'll see where it goes. I'll definitely see it when it comes out, and charge the tickets to Mr. Underhill's AMEX card.

Yeah, isn't Hamm (51) about fifteen to twenty years older than the character? I think one of the few complaints about Chase was that he was a bit too old for the part and Hamm is a good ten years older than Chase was when he played the part.

I only really know the films, though I think I may have read one of the books years ago. I’m sure Hamm will be good though. Pity they never got the Jason Lee version off the ground

The Jason Lee version would have been interesting, and I was kind of looking forward to Zach Braff's version too.

I have to take issue with you there. I loved it. I never read the novels but I did read another novel by Gregory McDonald that was the first of a series called 'Skylar'.

The Skylar novels were pretty good, as were his Flynn novels; Gregory McDonald was a very talented writer.
My problem with Fletch Lives is that it wasn't based on a novel, and most of the plot was just too forced, and was clearly written by comedy writers. To each his own though, I'm glad you like it.
