OK, it's not earth-shattering news, but 2 Entertain has announced that the upcoming reissue of Spearhead from Space on DVD is going to include the Fleetwood Mac track that had to be removed from the 2001 DVD and earlier home video versions. Unlike the situation with the Beatles in The Chase, apparently the agreement will allow the song to be heard in the Region 1 and 4 versions for the DVD, too:

It might not be enough to convince some folks to "double dip" if they have the 2001 version (I actually bought a copy of it just last week so I may or may not partake in the new myself) but it's still nice to find that the story will be preserved in its original broadcast form. Considering how so many TV shows are being released to DVD in altered form due to music rights - future generations may never get to see Ian doing the boogaloo to Ticket to Ride; our grandchildren may never experience the joy of hearing Frank Sinatra's "Love and Marriage" over the opening credits to Married with Children. Oh the misery!

Aw shoot. I was hoping to sit this one out.

Now if they could fix the ridiculous Beatles issue with the Chase.

I just wish there was some way to get WKRP in Cincinatti re-released without the horrible redubbing of tracks, and sometimes lines. :-)

Interesting, I didn't know a Fleetwood Mac song was originally in Spearhead from Space. Good thing I haven't gotten it on DVD yet.

Hopefully some day they'll work something out for The Beatles although I'm in no hurry to get The Chase which is one of my least favorite serials.
