Fleet Marks

Hi... I understand from the announcement in the chat that we're grinding marks for an upgrade. I have ≈500 marks in my assets. I have no idea if that's a lot or not, but if they'll be of any help to the fleet's upgrade effort, just let me know how to donate/deposit them and I will.

That is a lot yes - we've finished the Dilithium Mine upgrade now, though. Take a look at the Fleet holdings (Fleet button just under the minimap in the top right) - you'll see that each of them has several projects running; you're welcome to contribute to any of them as you wish.

Contributing fleet marks (and other stuff) allows you to gain fleet credits, which you can use within the Fleet holdings to buy Fleet gear (which is better than normal gear). Our holdings are:

- A dilithium mine near DS9 (but be careful as there's also the Vlugta asteroid belt nearby).
- A starbase in the Klingon Neutral Zone area near Starbase K7.
- An embassy on New Romulus.
- A fleet spire in the Dyson Sphere.

Thanks. I contributed to the Starbase effort -- mainly because A - it doesn't seem to be on a cool-down, and B - I know what it is.

Of what use are the spires and embassies?

ETA: Now that I think about it a Starbase in the Neutral Zone... exactly where is the existing Starbase?

In the sector block to the south of Sirius - about as close as K7 is to the actual neutral zone, though the whole sector block is kind of the "neutral zone" (which actually doesn't exist in 2409). It's in the bottom-left corner of the sector block.

Story-wise, the Starbase and Dilithium Mine should be self-explanatory.

Here be spoilers about storyline content pertaining to the Embassy and Spire:

Following the destruction of New Romulus, the Romulan Empire starts to fracture. There end up being at least two factions - the Tal Shiar, and the Romulan Republic. Our Embassy is on Republic soil, where we're helping Romulans and Remans rebuild their society on a new homeworld.

Spoiler: Spire

As you play through the New Romulus content, you discover a... doorway (I'm not spoiling the exact nature of it) in space to a new Dyson Sphere, surrounding a sun some distance from the Alpha Quadrant. The interior of the Sphere contains spires that are given to individual Fleets in the Federation and Klingon Empire, in order to help analyse advanced technologies.

But non-story-wise, they're a way to give fleets something to work at that will give fleet members good rewards.

Thanks again Jim... While dropping my Fleet Marks off on the Starbase project, I noticed some other things needed -- like warp coils. Up until that point, I hadn't seen any use for a lot of these items that have been collecting in inventory.

Would the fleet have any use for the outlined stuff here?

What you have highlighted are commodities and data samples.

Commodities are currently used in DOff assignments, 'Aid the Planet' missions in the clusters and in fleet projects.

Data samples are used for crafting, and also for Fleet projects, primarily starbase assignments.
