Yes, when does it air?

On RJ's recommendation I watched Behemoth (with Ed Quinn) last week and it was okay in a "don't expect too much" kinda way. I can try another.
 
^^^ LMAO! SYFY gave us Mansquito and Mega Python vs. Steroid Gater (or whatever the hell it was) and they're having concerns about this movie? Wow, just wow! Now I really have to see it.
 
Update-Last minute name change
Syfy-or RHI, has changed the name of the movie to Ferocious Planet. And the airdate is April 9.

I'm guessing FP fits in better with buzz worthy titles like Iron Invader, and Mega Snake vs Gatoroid, than the nebulous Other Side...which was also the tile of a daytime talk show co hosted by Dick Clark, Danny Bondaduce and Mario Lopez.
 
I've never watched one before, at least not all the way through or even close. I tried to watch the one about mutant Nazi supersoldiers on the principle that there's no way to frak up a movie about mutant Nazi supersoldiers, but Skiffy proved me wrong! :rommie:

Who knows, maybe even hopefully shirtless Joe won't hold my interest. Maybe if they had Joe in a speedo fighting hordes of mutant Nazi supersoldiers...?

Most genre fans have a love/hate relationship with Syfy Channel films, I suspect. While most of us enjoy ninety minutes of watching a bear-shark-a-cuda chase down unsuspecting victims on a Friday or Saturday night, there’s no denying a good portion of Syfy original programming simply isn’t worth being subjected to. In fact, some of it is downright unwatchable, most of the fare coming off like Girls Gone Wild videos with thin genre plotlines to justify being on the network.
But, every once in a while a Syfy Original comes along that’s actually well written, well crafted, and it gives you hope that, perhaps, more such films will follow, which is why we keep watching.
Ferocious Planet is one of those films.

As always, we shouldn't get our hopes up too high..this is after all, Syfy. ;)
 
I've always been a big fan of the "it's-so-bad-it's-good" type of B-movies. With the drive-ins largely gone, other than DVD, the Sy-Fy Channel's the only real outlet for that sort of thing these days.

^ Most of these flicks don't even reach the "it's-so-bad-it's-good" level of fun. If they did, we wouldn't be so hard on the network for aiming so low. :alienblush:

Most of them don't, but some do. Judging films that are "so-bad-it's-good" is much like judging like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. :cool:

...Alright, I have to confess. I watched FP and....and...lik-....lik--...umm....ok, it wasn't as bad as these movies usually are. It fell squarely in the middle of "it's-so-bad-it's-good"territory. :rolleyes:
 
From what I saw it looked to be "So Bad It's Bad", I still contend that you have to have a sense that they are actually trying to make something good and failing to get the it's "So Bad It's Good" feeling from a project.
 
It was competently crafted at a basic level and the characters weren't so stupid that you were rooting for the monsters to eat them all. So that puts it a step or two above Skiffy's usual fare.

Of course, it was far from perfect. What accent was John Rhys-Davies trying to fake? The dimbulbs who poked the alien should have realized that all they needed to do for fame and fortune is get back alive, not bring back souvenirs (or if they needed souvenirs, an alien leaf would have been just as good proof as a critter once it was analyzed). Dimwit #2 gets a rebar through the arm, and two minutes later shows no sign of pain or injury. The fact that the spire in the distance came from Earth was immediately obvious, yet it occurred to nobody in the group? And I see that Joe still can't find a comb.

But it was fun, and it had Joe, so it gets a pass.
