Five Years Later...

Some people move on, but not us.

I've only briefly browsed the forum this morning, but man oh man - those words clearly apply to a fair number of names that I recognize from days long past! ;)

I see @Jayson1 is still around, still posting silly things. That's oddly comforting.

These old emoticons still being around give me a good laugh.

So, five years since the last time I was here - what's new?

(Also, how do I ignore @The Nth Doctor? :nyah:)

same old, same old, Pere. History keeps repeating itself, both in politics and in thread topics. There are a lot of very friendly newbies, though. I think it'd be worth your while to stay a bit and get to know them closer. Misc is fun and very relaxed with the current clientel. A quantum leap from what it was in 2002. (Is it really 17 years already? Good heavens!)
Terrible thing happened fairly recently: Bob the Scutter passed away quite suddenly and at far too young an age :( In the announcements you'll find a link to a tribute site.
I think you used to post at SlipstreamBBS/ExIsle, too - right? Then you might have known theinnocentone aka Sprinkles. She used to sprinkle love over a thread when a row was about to start. Worked infallibly. She died from cancer, almost by the day 4 years ago.

Did Vert drag you here or is it a coincidence that you resurfaced with him? (LOL this really is a bit like synchronised swimming.) 2 years ago Garth started a thread for those who re-registered. Perhaps you can find a few familiar names in it.

You ignore people by klicking on their profile. In the top right corner you'll then find 3 links: report / ignore / follow.
Pick the middle one

Hey Pere - life continues. I lot has changed in my life. Happy now living in Melbourne.

The board has changed over the past 5 years. People have gone and others have joined. I probably don't post as much as use ... as other things are more interesting in life.

Actually Jayson was gone for a long while. I'm not sure I remember you but welcome back!

same old, same old, Pere. [...]
I did see the Bob announcement. :(

Not sure if I knew Sprinkles or not; don't recall having been a poster at Slipstream, though I did occasionally spend some time at Terran. Still sad news; I recently lost an aunt to cancer, will be losing a grandmother soon, and have other aunts that have had their own bouts with some types. What a nasty thing cancer is (and what an understatement that is).

As far as @Verteron goes, that's a complete coincidence! My sudden resurfacing was actually inspired by seeing What We Left Behind last week. Nice to see that fellow around too, of course.

Congratulations on the move! You might have seen this elsewhere already, but a lot has changed in my life too. As of last September, I'm married!

Long time no see!
You were already ancient back in 2003, and you're still around now? ;)

Nice to see you, Santa!

I'm not sure I remember you but welcome back!
Your name seems vaguely familiar. Thank you in any event. :)

Nice to see you again.
Thanos got you, too, eh? There's a lot of that going around. ;)
My whereabouts these past few years are classified, good sir...

Yep, still around, even more ancient :p45 years old now, still pirate and techhead, just add more muscle.. and I'm bald now.. at least not grey though.
Going to stick around?

Time is a flat circle.
aren't all circles? After all, a circle is by definition a two-dimensional object and therefore lacks thickness of any kind. So it'd be the flattest thing geometrically possible.
(sorry, but I love maths :) and just couldn't hold back)

I'm sorry to hear that. Alas, cancer is so common nowadays that one doesn't wonder whether but only when one gets it.
even more ancient :p45 years old now
Baby! :p

I second the sticking around, though! Btw, Terran had technical probs and so we transfered it to a more reliable server. The new address is http://sdg3.com/terran All accounts were kept active and if you remember your password you can log on whenever you like :) If you changed your email address and can't remember the password, please PM me here at TrekBBS and I'll set a temporary password or update your email, whatever you prefer.

you're welcome :)
What is "True Detective"? As far as I am concerned, the only true one is Sherlock Holmes (the one from The Strand Magazine, not the newfangled TV-show one)

The ancient and wise Sho-Rin is still around, just older and a little less wise. Mostly hang in TNG and ENT due to moderating and personal interest. Interesting how those series continue to attract new fans.
