Five-0 tidbit

I was watching FIVE-0 with my wife and kids last night. I will give them ALL credit for sitting through a 35 year old episode!!! And, wow, they liked the mystery and tension of that show, and that amazes me..

But in last night's episode McGarrett states that Hawaii became a state in 1958, and one year later is when the Governor made him the head of Five-0. This is news to me. I often wondered when his tenure started, now I know. The show didn't get produced until 1968. So there are 9 years unaccounted for, and that's pretty cool. So if he became the head of five-0 in 59, and the show lasted until 1979 season, then he was solving crimes there for nearly 20+ years. Not bad...

Book'em danno..Murder one!!! TWO COUNTS!!!

Except Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959, not in 1958. The US Congress did not even accept the Hawaii admission act until March 1959 which was submitted and the Hawaiian people voted on it on June 27, 1959.

It was still a great show.

Im sure Jack Lord would have attributed the dates being wrong to the old duplicate-earth theory. Five-0 takes place on Earth...get this...5-0...I love it!!!
