First wireless implanted brain-computer interface

The problem I have with something like this is the problem of replacement. Who wants to have brain surgery every time a new improved model comes out?

Well a workaround is to have very basic electronic interfaces in the brain itself one time. One surgery. You wear whatever is the latest tech in a hat with the connection directly above the implant.

New tech? New hat--maybe...red hat even?

It's not that big a deal. Airplanes have avionics boxes that slide in and out after all.

It's just a wireless version of the BrainGate. Not that big a breakthrough, really, considering the proliferation of wifi/bluetooth enabled devices.

I'm seeing that they still haven't significantly streamlined or developed the actual braingate architecture, though. Seems a tad disappointing.

Well, it would be kind of stupid to put the wiring directly into a human brain. It would make more sense to pick a creature with a much simpler anatomy and neural structure, such as a worm, to develop and test the technology. Then you just have to put the pre-wired worms into people's brains and extract them when it's time for an upgrade.

Or "Khaaaaannnnnn!"

They could also try interfacing a fish to Google translate and then stick it somebody's ear.

As is hauling unwanted crap out of my computer isn't enough, I can dig it out of my brain. Not likely to happen anyway, but that's what we'd get. The Internet and all its idiocy in ones head, all the time.
