First Season 2 Images Arrive

I just had a horrible thought that you can blame on my '80s childhood: Linus looks like he'd be right at home on Thundercats.

Not a dig at the make-up at all because that used to be one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. Can anyone else see it?

Absolutely!

A number of years ago, I used the Thundercats logo to make a custom dash plaque for an acquaintance's 70s Mercury Cougar. He didn't use it, because he thought it was too cartoon-ish. Yet the front end of his car was from a Thunderbird, because they were easily swapped. I thought it was perfect. Oh well, not my car. :D

I want to see caitian!

That was a weird-ass scene to put in a major blockbuster to begin with.
Like, complete, unreal 100% fratboy wish-fullfillment. Not even super playboys Tony Stark or James Bond were ever seen having a random threesome with two unnamed chicks just to show-off. Not even in a Michael Bay-movie (and that guy has issues).
I mean, I get it, Kirk is supposed to be this womanizer (though he always was much more the suave guy than the Football-teamleader bro-dude), and yeah, the future (and aliens) should be portrayed as much more liberal, but man, this is a weird scene to put in a movie - without any further context - if you want your audience to take your characterisations serious.

Umm, why would the director want the audience to take Jim Kirk seriously here? The whole point of the first one third of the movie is that Kirk is an asshole and a disgrace to his father's memory, and mistakes arrogance for heroism. There's payoff when it turns out arrogance carries the day - and then further payoff two movies down the line when Jim himself recognizes nobody took him seriously back then.

Yeah. Exploration.
Mysteries.
That is what made Trek a classic.

I miss the sense of surprise and innocence that TOS and TNG had.
Innexplicables phenomenon beyond the known space .. has changed to a political wars ...and that I don't find it funny.

The Trek universe is almost infinite... lets take advantage of it.
And yes, I would love to see Saurians and Caitians aboard.

They’ve season 2 will be more like that

That would also be cool :) that and whatever species Arex was - actually I’m surprised they’ve not tried to do Arex (unless that’s coming in s2 as well!)
He's either an Edoan (according to the TAS novelizations) or a Triexian (according to Star Trek: New Frontier). IIRC a New Frontier short story had the nice retcon that Arex is a Triexian but both species look similar so they're often confused, but Triexians are more animated :)

Ah thank you :) and that’s the kind of beta canon explanation I wanna see more of in alpha canon!

But Arex was more alien with his additional limbs and such - now that we can make cgi creatures that look more real it’d be great to finally see him in Star Trek that’s not 2D!
