I love it! I hope The Doctor brought his fur coat. :D

Edit: Having gone to the link...I guess not. :(

The actual video is there now too. Watch it quickly before the BBC have it taken down!

Looks great! Can't wait to see the other Who themed idents... I reckon we'll get a K9 one!

What exactly are "idents" in this context?

They bookend other television programs on BBC 1 with a voice over introduction to what's being shown... kind of like separators between the programs as there are no adverts other then trailers for upcoming show's. I hope that makes sense!

00:00:05:02 BBC ONE (BBC CHRISTMAS BLIP - DR WHO DIGGING IN SNOW)
00:00:05:02 BBC ONE (BBC CHRISTMAS BLIP - REINDEER SNIFFING BY TARDIS)

According to the Doctor Who News Page, the idents have been given video classification ratings, strongly implying they're being prepped for DVD release, presumably as bonus features in the Specials box set.

Fabulous! Looking forward to seeing the Doc digging in the snow. I like it that the BBC recognise they have a good product in Who and treat it in this way. As a fan it's always nice to see something fannish sprinkled among mainstream telly! :techman:

I read somewhere that apparently when RTD saw the Wallace and Gromit ones last year he said he wanted that, and that's how this came about.

Thinking about it, I probably read that here somewhere.

and this is how romours start on the internet

Your probably wrote it youself!
Are you accusing me of making things up? ;)

No, I'm accusing you of being the font of all BBC/Uk media related knowledge. Surely as more info goes in, something has to fall out. That, or you just make things up... :p
Well making things up is easier, but then you have to have a good enough memory to keep your fabrications straight.

Aha! Here it is, I had a sneaking suspicion I didn't make it up.

“I watched the Wallace and Gromit idents last year, then walked into the office on January 2nd and said, ‘I want that!’” outgoing showrunner Russell T Davies said. “Maybe it is a bit of a takeover this year, but of all the things to flood your screens, why not Doctor Who?”
