First Official Pic of Ethan Peck in Full Spock Regalia

Disagree about Quinto resembling Nimoy better. I think Peck does a better job, especially in the voice department. Quinto was okay, but I always cut him some slack because he had some big ears to fill.

And these promo shots for 2009 didn't help. Especially the Blue Steel sessions for Entertainment Weekly. I remember at the time thinking, that a lot of Photoshop/vaseline.

Looks ok to me
He looked like a dick with that beard
Should at least be able to get a two-hour movie out of Spock and Tyler sitting on the beach combing their beards. :techman:
For this reason alone, this decision is a turd on the franchise. Beard Bros Spock/Tyler forever! One is a Vulcan/human hybrid. The other is a human with a Klingon surgically grafted onto him or however the hell that went. Both have awesome beards, and together they are an unstoppable force, travelling the galaxy together, righting wrongs and learning valuable life lessons along the way.

Damn you, CBS All Access! You have robbed us of the best Star Trek series ever!

I won't lie. That's a pretty nice looking boat. :bolian:
I'm still trying to get by Spock & Tyler together on a beach in speedos picking at each others beards...

I'm not so sure retrofitting cruise ships with Starfleet tech is a good idea. They would create coastal-wrecking tsunamis when they drop out of warp!

Now it only needs Burnham and Tilly sitting in the shade under a coconut tree, with a wide-eyed Tilly prattling on wistfully about bearded guys to the visible chagrin of Burnham who is trying and failing to remind her she's talking about her foster brother and her ex.

... maybe we should go the anime route and have a dedicated beach/holiday episode. That never, ever failed before in Star Trek, right?

He looks as much like Nimoy as William Hurndall looked like William Hartnell. Or Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan looked like Connery.
It’s a tv show guys- he looks fine. Seems to perform the character reasonably well so, big deal.

Absolutely agreed — and I have no issue with the re-casting. In fact, I rather like Peck’s take on Spock. He’s done a great job of catching the inflection and the mannerisms and delivers an impressive broad-brush impression of a younger version of Nimoy’s character but still manages to make the part his own.

The acting wasn’t the issue so much as something looking slightly off about the overall visual look of the character — hence the specific comments.

Obviously Tyler is on the left and Spock is on the right still trying to do the Vulcan Hand Salute at two hundred and fifty years old.
(you can almost make out his pointy ear)
:techman:
Screencap from Star Trek: Discovery, Season 3, Episode 1, with Tyler and Spock greeting the rest of the crew emerging in the 28th century. They obviously had to take the longer route to the future.

this looks fine to me. the photoshop is a lot more subtle and it's in line with a style EW was doing at the time.

however... i can't be the only one who thinks that both these actors are really well cast, but neither looks like nimoy as much as successfully embodies the character of spock.
