First Love

I bagged my high school crush a couple of years ago...before I met my fiancee.

Suffice to say, it wasn't what I expected.

As for my first "love", meh...looking back I don't think it was even love. I mean, it hurt when she ended it but I think that's just because I was addicted to the bootay. The first woman I honestly "loved"...I remember what it was like, since I have a better memory of say - a potato. I worked with her (MISTAKE) so getting over her took a while. She was getting out of a marriage (MISTAKE) so I think I was her safety to make her feel validated. Once she came around she dumped my ass, got take tits and became quite the whore.

We don't talk.

I've done the whole high school and middle school "I love you" crap, but the first time I really fell in love was when I was 19. We broke up for some stupid reason, but I was really devastated for about a year. She got in contact with me out of the blue about 5 weeks ago and we have been seeing each other ever since. I feel like I've matured a lot, so I hope she'll stick around this time.

I am sure most of us know what it is like to fall deeply in love with someone for the first time. I am also sure some of us have lost those people. Three questions:
1. Do you remember what is was like?
2. Do you remember what is was like to try to get over that person once you lost them.
3. Are you still with that person?

1. Yes.
2. No, but during a few intense arguments over the years, the thought that we could lose everything was enough for me to try to settle the issue.
3. Yes, we just celebrated 25 years together, 16 of them married.

yes
no
yes

Can't complain.

Ooh! Nice to know it's not just me! Congrats!

Congrats. I hope all is well and continues to be so.

Thanks! I think it's so easy to forget just what it is about the person that you love when you're both caught up in just getting through your day/week/life.

When asked for advice, I say, "Spend 30 seconds every day thinking something positive about the person. Doesn't matter what, when, or where. Do it while in the bathroom if you have to." It's easy to get mad at the person and regret "everything." If you have no reserve of "I love this person because..." in your mind, it's easier to give in to that anger.

1. Do you remember what is was like?

Not really, I'm vague on the details.

2. Do you remember what is was like to try to get over that person once you lost them.

No - she gave me the clap, so I was happy to see the back of her.

3. Are you still with that person?

God no - I see her very rarely when I visit my home town but only in the street and don't to speak of.

I ended my relationship with my first real love about a year ago. We were living together and had been in a relationship for three years. I was never that affected by it when it happened or afterwards, as the last six months of our relationship I was struggling just to get her attention, to show her how much I cared. It was honestly a relief.

I've been very depressed since then however. I moved in with her far away from home, and today I still find myself living here in a strange city in a large empty house alone. Right now I'm on the edge of a major life change. In three weeks I'm moving back home. It's a strangely depressing time, preparing to pack up my things and memories. I'm uncertain of what the future holds once I get there...

Hopefully I have better luck with women once I get there. Since the breakup, the only women in my life have been one girl who stood me up and another who is wonderful in every way except for already having a boyfriend.

Sigh, next month can't come fast enough.

This Thursday marks the tenth anniversary of my first kiss... a wonderful and magical moment seldom (indeed, if ever) since equaled, let alone surpassed.

It'd be nice to send the young lass a message to commemorate the occasion and wish her well, but seeing as we're no longer in touch, and she ignored a Facebook friend request of mine a few years back, it's probably best not to. Oh, well...

I remember.
1. It felt like lightning to my heart.
2. We never got together. He wasn't ready.
3. We're still friends, but now he regrets not being with me.

I had my first kiss when I was six. She was also six. That was thirty six years ago and I remember nothing about the girl, not even her name, except that she started it and nearly knocked me off my crutches (I didn't need my wheelchair yet then).

I remember the incident though, because, considering how thoroughly shitty women spent the next thirty three years treating me because of that damned wheelchair up until I got together with my girlfriend, I occasionally thought of her and wished I hadn't let her go.

But hey, we were both only six, what can you do?

I haven't seen the girl I first kissed in a little over 16 years now, over 17 since the kiss itself, we went to different high schools and never stayed in touch. That's making me feel both depressed and old now.

Kissing at 6yo? Precocious tyke.

For various reasons, I didn’t have any boyfriends while in school, went out with 2 guys at 21yo: 1 date with one guy who wanted to help me with my “problem”--my problem being that I was a virgin. 2 dates with another guy who really wasn’t a bad and seemed to want a long-term relationship, possibly also because I was a virgin.

I ended up with Hubby (who also wanted a virgin but HE was also a virgin). He was the first--and only--guy I’ve kissed or been with. I was 23, he was 27. We both had had opportunities, but we both “wanted to wait for the right person.”

Best thing I ever did was wait. Second best thing I ever did was know when to stop waiting.

1. Do you remember what is was like? Yes, very clearly.

2. Do you remember what is was like to try to get over that person once you lost them. Yep, I did it by jumping into a relationship with someone else way too fast.

3. Are you still with that person? You would think that my answer would be no, judging by my previous response, but after said relationship ended after nearly two years (that is short to me, as I was with the first for seven years), I reconnected with my first love. Though I still loved him through the years we were apart, we fell madly in love all over again. That can't eat, can't sleep kind of infatuation that we all know. Strange how it happened twice with the same person. Felt like a completely new experience but it wasn't. Super happy a year and a half later.

1. Do you remember what is was like?

Yes. Sixteen and the sex was awesome. Didn't really have much in common though.

2. Do you remember what is was like to try to get over that person once you lost them.

Took like thirty minutes. Young love is fleeting. I found someone much better for me in the long run who I've been with for twenty years now.

3. Are you still with that person?

No. She married my brother and made his life such a living hell that he ran off to Germany.
