First look at Chris Evans as Captain America

Entertainment Weekly .... sucks. Really. They depend on these superhero teasers to sell their magazine, showing an actor in costume, but it it really is so photoshopped and so early that you can't depend on these stupid cover shots to really get an idea of how an actor will actually look. I'd really rather not know what an actor will look like until a time close to when the film opens than look an early EW cover. I hate 'em.

Agreed. Their Green Lantern photo and Iron Man 2 photo weren't the best way to show the next summer blockbuster

Looks good like the all american boy Steve Rogers was (is).

The seriousness also fits because Rogers was never a joker like Spiderman.. now i just want to see the first scenes with him. D-Day landing, fighting Nazis and maybe his arrival in the present time.

Consider me sold for the moment.. the same way i was sold when i saw the first picture of Downey as Tony Stark.

As for the brown hair, they're obviously using some filters on this cover. Evans has blue eyes in real life.

It's just a promo picture HDR'd. Pretty cool.

And every single one of the other images are ridiculously cool.

The cover is so-so, but the other pictures are awesome, and I'm not even a Cap fan. I mean, how freaking cool is that? They also made a good job with Chris Evans, I feared to see the Human Torch in Cap's costume, but there was nothing of the sort. I hope they can do the same with the Green Lantern having Deadpool's face...

I always thought that was ironic that the archetype of Aryan supermen thoroughly dislikes Hitler, which isn't half as hilarious as that in 616 it was Caps pint sized sidekick Bucky who kills Hitler.

The costume looks great, very plausible. Also looks like they gave him a goofy "period" haircut - maybe a little long on the sides for the 1940s.

The goofy haircut is the first thing I noticed! :rommie: There's something about it that really sells the character - you're right, the sides are too long but that's a sop to modern sensibilities - and he should be blonder, but generally, it's good.

Still don't like the suspenders, tho. :p
They may have changed his hair color so to not highlight the unfortunate Aryan look Steve has.
Yeah, that might have been a good call. ;) Make him dirty blond and call it a day.

I thought it was the android Torch who killed Hitler. in fact, they made a point of mentioning in Invaders Now! #1 that the Torch killed Hitler.

That may have been intentional, but never confirmed. Some comic writers back then were Jewish, so when they heard about what the Nazis were doing they figured "Hey, let's make a character who fulfills the Aryan ideal and make him the Ultimate Nazi Enemy!"

Bendis a year ago trumps who ever is writing Invaders Now.

Spider-Man is blathering on about how everytime some one finds a time machine, the first thing thy alwasy do is try to kill Hitler. deadpan with out inflection Bucky adds "I killed Hitler" which stuns Parker into a moment silence.

It was awesome.

Its the Marvel universe, there were probably like 3 Hitler clones, an alternate universe Hitler that came through a dimensional portal, a cybernetic recreation of Hitler with one of the clone's brains in it and a fake Hitler propped up by neo-Nazis who was actually the third Summers brother. I have no doubt Bucky and the original Torch could both have killed him at some point.
