First LEGAL torrent in North America

Cunning bastards
They buy their own bullshit too, every now and then the local news gets wind of all the people complaining, and interview someone at KC, and we get some bullshit excuse that all ISPs have these problems, and the complaints are just a few people moaning, they have many loyal customers. Like we have any choice.

While it may be the first time a network has decided to distribute a show this way, it certainly is not the first torrent ever that does not infringe on a copyright ;)

I heard somewhere that the first season of BBC comedy series Monkey Dust was released in the UK on DVD, then the second free via torrent.

Only in Canada would companies try to stop internet growth. I have a fucking idea... LAY MORE FIBER. Ugh.
The sparse population density in Canada makes this a very unattractive undertaking. There is simply no financial incentive unless the government gets involved.

Canada is significantly more urbanized then the US, though, so it's easy to get most of Canada connected. 80% of us live in cities, 51% of us live in four regions (near Vancouver, Calgary-Edmonton, Toronto, and Ottawa-Montreal), and pretty much everybody else lives along the TCH (i.e. a line connecting the above four locations).
