First images sent back of Apollo sites!

My daughter and I were talking about the moon the other day.

I told her the best part, for me, about looking at the moon is remembering that everyone in history has looked up at that same object: every historical figure, every land animal and dinosaur of every species that has ever lived on this planet has at least glanced at the moon.

Cleopatra, Moses, Hitler. All the biggies.

That is a very nice thought. Going to have to use that and tell it to my boy. :)

I've heard one of the astronauts had that thought in reverse -

He held up his thumb and blocked his view of the Earth, and realized that all of human history, and all of *natural* history, happened in the space behind his thumb. Everyone from Nixon to the first spear-thrower was in that tiny space.

As for the photos, I used to believe that the Apollo missions landed on the moon, but those photos are so weak, they make me wonder... look! A white spot! seriously...

;)

It's actually interesting to them, if they're old enough.

She repeated it to me a couple of days later. She's a bit too young now, but later I'll ask her that when she's old, with her grandkids, pointing to the moon, to please remember to add me to the list.

Conspiracy theorists and Palin supporters come from the shallow end of the same gene pool.

Something exceptionally broad like religious extremists or conspiracy theorists can fly, but I think narrowing it down to Palin supporters more directly targets a lot of members of this board, so let's try and avoid that in the future, please. Thanks.

I don't know, some of them are a little confusing...

I agree. I have always loved to take my daughters out to look at the stars (and it is SO much easier in our new home... we can see so many more of them!) and next time, I will point that out to them as well. :)

Don't know how the Moon landing hoax guys are going to handle this news!

Oh, I'm sure they're measuring distances to craters and shadows to "prove" the new photos don't match up to the old.

The problem with crazy fuckers is that they WILL NOT listen to reason. Anyone who has dated an unbalanced or overly-religious person can attest to that. What is reasonable and true is just another lie to them.

The moon-hoax people are the same as the 9-11 truthers and the JFK conspiracy nitwits and the black helicopter crowd: mentally unbalanced twats.

Joe, certain

Don't forget about the dinosaurs-never-existed crowd!
